I hope everyone realizes this is not what I was saying. Please do go ahead and post your victories, failures, inspirations, challenges, goals, mistakes, etc. But if for some reason you tell everyone you are going to be eating sugary junk food as a regular part of SBD, someone is going to step in and let you (and everyone else reading the thread) know it's not part of SBD. This is part of what we do for each other here and it helps us be aware of what we are doing. People are always pointing out when someone is eating a non-SBD kind of salad dressing or overdoing it on peanut butter, or the like, because it is just too easy for us - and I include myself in this - to be blind to our own mistakes.

Hi just checking in and wanted to say HI.. I hope everyone is doing great. We are doing wonderful on the SB.. Hubby has dropped 19 lbs we were all shocked. We know its water b/c he had alot of swelling so this is really been a wonderful thing that came our way. My son hasn't lost anything but I remind him that weight loss is not normally expected until P2. Plus he is working out and muscle weight more then fat. So he isn't getting discouraged. All in all it going great. I fould some of those SF syrups to make my ice coffee and yummy they are good. I went to the World market love that place. lol Well off to shower and hit the sack. Work tomorrow. :D

Hi everyone! I thought I'd say hi and check in for today (and not get involved in the quarrel :) ).

I went out to eat tonight for the first time since starting SB and I'm proud of myself! I went to Texas Roadhouse and they have the BEST bread basket served with cinnamon butter. My mouth watered, I eyed the bread, and then said "I can't have any" and continued looking at the menu. I knew that I want to be healthy more than I wanted that bread.

So, for dinner I had a grilled chicken salad. I asked that the chicken be prepared without marinade (as it could have been a marinade that included sugar), I asked for no croutons and no bacon. The salad then consisted of the grilled chicken (plain), lettuce, tomatoes, red peppers, onions, colby jack cheese (yes, not low-fat but I'm hoping that it's still at least semi-okay) and half of the serving of Ranch dressing. I said no to a cocktail and stuck with Diet Coke and water.

Oh, and just because I'm posting my non-scale victories I should say that I resisted a sandwich from the bagel shop across from my work as well as a cookie from the same establishment (my work pays for lunch for the firm every Monday and breakfast for the firm every Friday). I can't believe how easy it was just just say "no" this time around and not feel as if I was depriving myself.

I hope everyone else had a splendid day!

Back to making my vegetable quiche cup thingies. :D

:D I have to toot my own horn! DS and I went to the movies yesterday, I planned ahead and brought some turkey chips, and 2 pieces of string chz. He has his popcorn and sweets. The smell was overwhelming, I went to take a piece, had it in my fingers, and said nope, don't need it! And I am a popcorn freak! So I enjoyed my chips, and pretended the string cheese was licorice LOL
For today...

B SB cinnamon rolls, coffee with 1/2 C skim milk. tried some V8
S turkey pepperoni, string cheese
L Left over Meatza and green beans, caff free diet pepsi
S 20 pistaschio's and snow peas, crystal light
D, wasn't really hungry so I had some cottage cheese

xoxpipahxox, way to go on the first dinner out! Especially on P1, it can be a daunting task, but you handled it so well! You're probably right - the cheese was probably not low fat - but I don't worry too much when I'm getting a salad. If I've managed to avoid the croutons, get one not covered in bacon, and not slather it with a gallon of blue cheese dressing, I don't worry about the little bit too much fat in the cheese. (I do at home, but not out - it just ends up being too much to stress over.) Besides, I figure that generally there's going to be less cheese in the salad than there would be covering a smothered steak or chicken, etc...

Congratulations on a great choice!! I hope you still were able to enjoy that dinner, even without the bread. And you're getting closer to P2, when you can enjoy that cocktail! Keep it up!

When I'm ordering a salad with cheese on it, I ask for it on the side... that way I can control how much cheese actually goes on the salad.

Dit- Thanks for your words of encouragment! I didn't have a worse time at all. I enjoyed my salad thoroughly and I DO love my Diet Coke  I knew I could have made worse choices, such as the amazing bread basket.. yum, so I'm not concerned, really!

BIT- That's a great idea. Oddly I never thought of it. I should think more often!

Happy Day 9 everyone! Can you believe it?Everyone is doing so great and I want us to keep it up! :)

My small NSV was that after my ricotta creme last night (1/2 c with 1 packet splenda and sprinkle of cinammon yum) I was in the mood for PB- wasn't hungry but just felt like going into the kitchen and dipping my spoon in the jar. Even though PB is ok on SB (having some today with my celery) I realized I was not hungry, that it would be just mindless eating and I stopped myself.

Yay for increased will power on this WOL!!!!

xoxpipahxox--Great job on not eating the rolls at Texas Roadhouse. I told my DH we could go out to dinner just about anywhere but there because those rolls are sooooo good and way too tempting.
Everyone else, great job on planning healthy alternatives. I figured out that planning is really the way to succeed. If I have something healthy available, and easy to make, I'll eat that. So I've been doing that all week, and it's helped tremendously. Plus, my carb cravings are almost completely gone! It's so much easier now than it was the first couple of days. Even better is that I've lost between 4-5 pounds, which is great motivation to keep going with both this eating plan and the exercise that I've been doing.
Great job everyone!

xoxpipahxox - Way to go! I remember the last time I did the SBD about a year and a half ago, this type of success was the very thing that kept me going. When you see that you can go out to dinner and still maintain the plan, you feel like you can do anything. It is only when you are able to say NO to the wonderful breads that you know you can keep going.
Congratulations!

For anyone who is interested, and ONLY those that are interested, I have moved my discussion about my SB experiment to the My Journal area. I will be posting there, as a blog. If you are interested to see if my experiment works, just drop by. No flames there, please. Only come by if you are interested in what I am trying, I do not want your negative comments. Today my joy level is way down due to yesterday.

Thanks.

So you only want positive comments? No interested but critical-thinking people? Yikes that leaves me out of everything.

I believe this group has requested that we "butt out" and leave them alone to do as they will.....hopefully they will each put that in their signature - I think that would make it easier for all involved - don't want to make suggestions to anyone who already knows everything they need to know.

I'd actually appreciate input if you ever see something that I'm doing incorrectly or not "by the book". Don't abandon this thread completely, please! Some of us still need the guidance. :)
