Is anyone else getting frustrated, feeling like there is NO food you can eat? I just don't even hardly eat anything most days because EVERYTHING has ingredients I can't have. I am SO frustrated!! I just looked at theingredients label on my WW bread and the third ingredient was High Fructose con syrup. WTF!>!>! Why is everyone putting JUNK in their food?
*sigh* *counts down from 10*
how the heck can I buy food or breads that doesn't have this stuff in it? I am SO CLOSE to just giving up. There is hardly ANYTHING I can eat, and I'm STARVING. |

You can have that stuff as long as the sugar showing in the nutritional label is 3 or less grams per slice.
Or if you prefer, you can make your own bread in which case you can control what you put in your food.
Good luck, |

| I just went through that in the grocery store today! Every WW bread I picked up had HFC syrup. It's so frustrating, isn't it? I finally got some WW English muffins that had molasses instead of HFC. And I've found WW lavash bread/rollup bread that didn't have any sweetener, yay! |

I just got back from the grocery store and all the WW bread had either HFCS or Brown Sugar in it. i was so frustrated!!!!
I will have to check the labels again and see if it has less than 3g of sugar. *sigh* this is beyond depressing. |

Don’t get depressed about it. This will get easier… take it as a learning experience.. it’s fun! Did you check out the help on choosing bread in the Phase 2 FAQ?

There is going to be sugar in some form in most all breads!
On the other hand, there is nothing saying you have to eat bread. How about other grains and starchy veggies? Quinoa, whole wheat couscous, brown rice, sweet potato, etc…
Check out the Phase 2 FAQ for all kinds of helpful Q&A.
And remember 1 slice of bread is usually a serving.. not 2 slices! |

I prefer ww pita bread, tortillas and Eglish muffins to "bread" and they seem to be easy to find with less sugar added.
BTW, the reason bakers add honey, molasses or any other sweetener to whole-wheat bread is to give the bread the brown look we see in it.
Bread in general needs a sweetener for the yeast to rise. If you try to make ww bread without any sweetener, you end up with a BRICK! very heavy and flat!
There is also a list of bread accepted in P2, check the link in this forum in the P2 section.
Happy shopping  |

| Seems like most of the WW products, breads, snack cakes, muffins, etc are loaded with bad ingredients. They are low calorie, but many of the ingredients are things I have never heard of and I doubt they are healthy food! And the ingredient list is so long, too! It is hard to find a good bread! |

It sounds like you might be talking about Weight Watchers products, Brenda? Maybe I'm wrong.
When we say WW here, we usually mean "whole wheat." This thread is definitely about whole wheat products. |

Many whole wheat products/breads do use HFCS or other forms of sugars for both sweetness (read saleability) and to help the yeast rise. If it's a minimal amount per the guidelines, I still don't get what is so terribly evil or bad about HFCS, but again that's just me. I did notice Thomas' english muffins now say "now without HFCS", so maybe some mfgs. are noticing. They use honey and a little molasses apparently.
Like Nessa, I just don't eat slices of bread anymore. Much more tasty ways to consume grains IMO and got tired of reading bread labels and finding any that worked reasonably well ingredients-wise. |

| Personally, I'd rather have the brown sugar in their 100% whole wheat or HFCS in other brands than malitol. call me crazy... |

| Kimboroni, I am so sorry! As an old Weight Watchers member (and obviously not a successful one) I always assume WW stands for that. Thanks for straightening me out! |
