| Afyer 25 years of smoking, I've been off the weed for alost 3 months. :D I had tried the patch and gum before, but never made it more than one day. This time, I bought gum, thinking that I'd need it, but only used 3 pieces the first day and none since. When the mind is committed, hardcore cravings don;t happen, I guess. For the first 3 weeks, I did not allow myself any sweets or junk food, as I thought they would trigger a cigarette craving. I quit coffee the month before and as a result was sleeping qo hours a day. When I let myself have some chocolate, the sugar high gave me the first shot of energy and clarity that I'd had in weeks, so I kept eating. Over the next few weeks I took up bread baking [and bread eating  ] in a big way. I put on a few, and then developed somemajor bloating that prevented me from getting into most of my clothes. That sent me screaming to South Beach and to you lovely people. |

| Now this is ridiculous...lol I smoked for about 7 years tried to quit unsuccessfully many many times, got pregnant with my son, quit with no problem for 2 years, for some unknown reason gradually started again, smoked for a couple months, got pregnant with my second son, quit with no problem for about a year, my son is now 6 months old and here I am smoking again! Ridiculous! I would love to quit I need to make a serious plan!!! |

| I was the same way. I was able to quit each time during pregnancy and while nursing. Then bam...right back to it. It's going on 5 months smoke free for me this time, and no baby as an excuse :D I didn't use anything, but did try the gum. That stuff made me choke! I don't have cravings or anything, but I have become a bit of a homebody, afraid to go out and be around all my smoking friends...which is everyone. Don't have the money to go out anyway this day and age. I think it is great! I can do so much more now with my kids. I think that seeing that is what is making me stick to it. Good luck to everyone, I hope all can find a way to quit and reason to stick with it!! |

Hi everyone! I am a newbie to the SBD- A co-worker decided to take the "diet plunge" and has been on the SBD for almost two weeks now and feels great while loosing weight. I stopped smoking almost one year ago and have gained ALOT of weight because of this. I decided to try the SBD to help with the excess weight gain. I have a hard time turning away from sweets now more so than ever. I am pre diabetic and since I do not smoke I find myself eating peppermint by the hand ful and anything sweet! After reading some of the comments in the forum I believe the SBD will help reduce my sugar cravings! I am looking to loose weight and be healthy! This is my goal!
~Everyone wish me luck~ |

| Good Luck wsholland! I hope SBD does the trick for you. It is for me. I would love to loose more quickly, but I am just really happy I am at least loosing. I started 4/27 and as of today am finally down 10lbs. When I quit in January i was eating morning till night. Some good things and some not so good things, just as long as I had food. I haven't been able to give up the snacks in between, but other than that I can still to the meal plan and am loving it! :D |

ME TOO!! When I quit the first time I think I gained about 25 pounds in a month. I have already been successfully smoking less than a pack a day for several months now but I won't quit entirely until I reach my target weight.
Incidentally my first cigarette of the day always helps me with BMs. |

| marlene ... I read that you've reduced smoking .... but how does that work? When I try to time my cigarettes, I find myself thinking more about them, and eventually ... smoking more! |

I feel relieved to see the title of this post, because I have the same issues with quitting, fear of weight gain. I told myself that I would keep smoking through Phase 1 so the transition is not too overwhelming for me. Before SBD, I was down to 4-5 cigs per day, now I am firmly smoking a pack a day. I never realized I had such an oral fixation issue...I am replacing what I am not eating with cigarettes. Anyone had similar issues and tackled them?
Thanks for such a great community! |

| If you really want to quit, you can do it without gaining. I quit a year ago, after 30 years of smoking. How? Ice cubes. I eat ice when I feel like eating. Also helps with the water intake. Anybody know a support group for people addicted to ice cubes??????? |
