Hello all,
I have a quick question, I will be adding some grains to my diet next week (3rd week) and I was wondering how many I can have a day. These are the in nutriments:
100% Whole wheat
Protein g 13,6 per 100g - 0,9 per piece
Carbs g 62,6 per 100g - 4,2 per piece
of which sugar g 5,0 per 100g - 0,3 per piece
Fat g 10,4 per 100g - 0,7 per piece
of which saturate g 4,5 per 100g - 0,3 per piece
Fiber g 9,3 per 100g - 0,6 per piece
Sodium g 0,7 per 100g - 0,05 per piece
Anyone know if we can have the Tostitos cheese (i.e. 2 tbsp 3 gr. of fats).
THANKS  |

If this means that each piece has 0.3 g and 0.6 g of fiber, then you can have 1 of them and count them as a serving of starchy carbs.

You can have any cheese that has up to 6 g of total fat.
This one seems to have 3g of fat per oz. I assume.
Enjoy, |

| Thanks Ami as usual very helpful. 3 crackers weights 20 gr. and have 81 calories. Do you think is too much to have 3 crackers for lunch or dinner? |

1 oz or 28 gms is a serving of grains, so you could actually have 4! ;) But yes it would count as a single serving of grains/starches for that meal.
Don't know about the cheese. Does it give the number of grams in 2 tbsp? If it's 15 gms or more, then it would seem to meet the guidelines. |

2 Tbsp of cream cheese is about 30g, and 1 ounce is about the same. Tostitos cheese probably weighs about the same as cream cheese, so 2 Tbsp is likely about an ounce. |

| So 3 gms of fat in an 2 tbsp/ 1 ounce would be acceptable then, no? depending on other ingredients i suppose. maybe it's like a lf velveeta with added salsa/spices stuff? |

Thanks for the info, 2 tbsp serving is 30 ml and contains:
45 calories
3 g of fat (saturated 1 g)
Carbs 4 g
Protein 1 g
Sugar 0
Today I weighted myself and I was very disappointed in 3 weeks (today) I only lost 2 pounds  , I am trying to follow all the recommendations given in the book and especially in this forum but I must doing something wrong. Is the fact that I have dinner late (around 8- 8:30) might be a factor? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. |

| its more what you have late than the fact that you are eating late...if you'll post your starting weight, age, typical day menu - I bet someone here will be able to give you some good ideas on what you might change. |

I didn't even notice that...I guess I assume that more people have more to lose. I just can't get excited over 1 pound when it's 75# less than I weigh already - maybe that's selfish....but tis true!
BTW nessa, I read your post about your journey so far and I am impressed...makes me angry at me for falling off last winter and gaining every thing back...I went through about 3 months of insomnia - with all kind of medication changes and stuff that completely set me on my rear and eating got totally out of control - there are hormones that get wacky when you have cumulative loss of sleep and they are NOT friendly! |

Thanks for your support. I know that 8 pounds is not a lot of weight to loose but when you are short and had two knees surgery.......... 8 pounds feel like 20 pounds............. I will persevere with my diet and Red you are right I am really enjoying life more.
Red did you need to exercise as well to loose the weight? |

| I lost the first 25-30 lbs mostly through diet alone. To get past a few stalls and get rid of the last 10-15 and to continue to maintain at or near my final goal weight, I had to exercise and keep up a fairly regular regimen as well. It's better for my blood chemistry too, so I kind of have to do it from that perspective too. Given my many years of bad eating and sedentary nature, I don't have a lot of room for error anymore. |
