Empty Calories Question

Just wondering how I would count this dessert:

Egg Custard (per serving):
1/4 cup skimmed milk
1/4 whole egg
1/4 egg white
3/4 tbs. splenda
1/4 tsp. almond extract

Am I correct in thinking that the milk goes to my dairy allowance, the egg/egg white in protein, and the splenda being the only "empty" item? Does that mean that the splenda part is the only part that counts towards my 100-calorie "sweet treat"?

stop counting and just enjoy that as a dessert, or even as a breakfast! it's perfectly fine!

Well, the reason I'm asking is because I ate two of them...they're 60 calories each...and if all the ingredients count, I'm over the 100 calories sweet treat limit. I counted it in my dairy allowance too, but I just want to make sure what I did was ok or not so I don't make a mistake!

I figure if I'm gonna do it, might as well do it right!

You are correct in your first post. The milk and egg are not empty calories.

We don't count calories in this diet, except from treats.
Milk and eggs are NOT treats.

The only calories you need to count is the calories from Splenda, and at least the type I have have 0 calories.

The only reason we count the calories from treats is because they have sugar alcohols and they can cause us digestive problems.

So, the Egg Custard is a snack/dessert/breakfast, but NOT a treat.
I agree with maltaguy, just enjoy your healthy snack and stop counting calories!

Thanks guys! When I initially lost weight, I did it through calorie counting alone (and the occasional bit of exercise, but not even that really). I've put on 10 lbs. since then, and I think my excessive calorie counting actually has something to do with it. I'd eat and know all the content of my food and convince myself I'd work it off, but school or something would come up, and who has the time for 4 hour workouts?

So I'm trying to stop counting, trying to kill cravings, and just be healthy :)
