Congratulations on your journey so far! I think you have amazing will power. I know the struggle with both smoking and food. I quit smoking for 2 years and started again and I feel guilty about it everyday. The good news is we can always change our lives for the better, and it sounds like you are doing a great job! I've heard about detox but don't know too much about it. Ten days seems like a really long time to me though. I think that not eating that long sounds unhealthy and could severely mess with your metabolism. I am no expert by any means, I think if I was going to do it I would do it for a day or two and that is it. Keep up the great work!!!

Hi Lara! I quit smoking March 3, gained some weight between then and Mother's Day and hopped onto South Beach 14 days ago. I know exactly what you mean by dealing with the two at once. I do think that the clean SB approach is useful for railing in both by keeping blood sugar and energy level/moods stable.
I think that Pixie's Mom is right about your boss. Beware those who attempt to sabotage one's diet. There is a thread on this site about saboteurs that is worth reading. I also need to make sure that I do not use their efforts as an excuse for caving in. You might want to try saying that you'll take it home to eat later, then dump it in the trash after work.
We're here to support you. I look forward to reading about your successes. :D
