I started a journal on another site but there is not really a lot of activity over there so here's what I wrote over there:
Wednesday April 30...
Hello...
I did a few months of South Beach in the summer of 2004. I felt so good during that time! Yesterday morning I saw a number on the scale that I have never seen before... so I've committed to trying SB again. I started yesterday and feel good except for a dull headache... I remember this from the first time and realize it will go away soon.
This morning I was 2.4 pounds lighter than yeasterday morning... I know that's mostly water weight and I also ate like a pig two nights ago (went to Moe's and ate a giant burrito and chips mmm....) so that helped add to the day one bloat LOL.
I'll try to write more later and spend some time reading everyone's journals.
Happy South Beaching! |

Day Three.
Today was a harder day... I really wanted a beer and pizza! But I stuck with SB foods. I did drink a few too many diet cokes and had 10 more pistachios than I should have... but at least I didn't completely fall off the wagon.
So far I have lost 4.4 pounds (two days). Here's to hoping for another great weigh in tomorrow!

Congrats for your progress so far and welcome back!
I'm gonna go against my own "ritual" when I say this, but the scales are not the only way to measure weight loss. I weigh myself daily, and it works fine for me, either way [gain or lose] cause it helps me stay more motivated. But it doesn't work like that for some people. A small gain might be perceived as a devastating failure. By now we all know that weight fluctuates every day, so really, if one morning you are up by like half a pound, that doesn't mean you've gained half a pound of fat. Before I used to eat Jello as a dessert late at night, and it was causing me to retain working, making my morning weigh ins a total disaster.
So if weighing daily helps you stay on track [no matter if it's a loss or a gain], then go ahead. If not, try weighing in once a week ... gratification is higher :-) And also keep in mind, that we lose a lot of [water] weight fast during Phase 1 ... so don't get all used to the idea of dropping 4 pounds every 4 days :-P
Just sharing a few tips with you ... so you will be ready for it when it happens.
Keep it beachy :-)

Hey Chrissy, I'm new here too and we sound a little alike. I love my beer and find it very hard to give up. LOL. I also want to be about 105 for my goal.
I am obsessed with the scale and although I know all the things they tell you about the scale, it never seems to fail that I am on that thing every single day looking at the numbers as if they were gospel. LOL.
But hey, what can you do.
I agree with malta above about weighing in once a day, BUT IT"S SO HARD. LOL and you gotta admit it so cool to see that giant loss on the first few days of P1 even though we all know it's water. LOL.
anyway, just wanted to say hi and keep up the good work. if you have to have a beer or an extra ten pistacchios. It's okay. just start right back from that moment on and you'll do fine. (I used to think okay, i've blown my "diet" now I can binge on anything I want and start tomorrow, but now I just start right after the "extra treat" and go from there. )
have a nice day

I lost another .6 this morning which maked an even 5 in three days! I'll take it :)
Yesterday I walked 4 miles between walking the dog and walking with a friend... this morning my hubby and I went for a 6 mile bike ride through an extremely hilly neighborhood.
I had something different for breakfast today. I made 4 slices of turkey bacon and shredded one part-skim string scheese over top and then wrapped each one in a giant leaf of romaine... It was delicious! Like a BLT without the T (or the bread lol).
I realize how much alcohol I usually have on weekends with this diet! I like a little champagne with brunch... It's a beautiful day today here in NC, I am going to one of my student's dance recitals.. .but I iwll have to spend some happy time outside with an ice cold water and a book i think.
Have a great Saturday everyone 8) |

Hey Chrissy. you are doing awesome !!!.
That sound awesome the blt thing without the bread. I'm totally into wrapping everything in romaine lettuce now. But I never even thought to do the bacon thing :D
Anyway, i too enjoy too much alcohol on the weekends. LOL My hubby and I hang out together and play darts and listen to music and stuff and it's so fun, but for some reason, those kind of carbs don't react to me like breads and pastas and stuff. I still am able to keep the weight off (granted, I'm not losing that quickly because of that, which is not that great, but...) it doesn't make me bloated and gross feeling the same way the other carbs do.
I have added strawberries so far because i'm "afraid" to add anything else. LOL. But really, it's been so great because I don't count calories like I used to be psycho about before. But once I start adding in those other carbs like fruits and stuff, I know I'm gonna feel like i need to start counting and I don't want to.
But anyway, enough about me in your journal.
I just wanted to drop by and say keep up the awesome job and i know you will get down to your goal especially with the great physical activities you are doing.
have a nice day. |

Believe me, I know what you mean. LOL. I've weighed myself so much over the years, that if I eat even a grape, i think i would know what the scale would say. LOL. |
