Phase 1 is about the cravings/control. There would be no reason to return to p1 with medication change unless you felt you transitioned to p2 poorly. The transition to p2 is going to take 4-6 weeks anyway, so maybe you'll see a change. Since part of the SBD change does affect your hormones - I'd keep diet stable if you're on track so you can see what the meds really do for you vs always wondering if it was the meds or the diet...
I think most of the successful people on here transition back to p1 if they start having cravings, fall off the wagon, or generally feel like they've lost control [not from experience, but from reading thousands of posts and a lot of journals] |

HTP, I split this out from the bottom of the thread you posted in. thought it made more sense as it's own thread and more would see it.
many people don't lose anything in P1 and the purpose of P1 isn't really weight loss anyway. So I'd probably stay in P1 and go to P2 in two weeks as planned and when the new meds kick in, you might see some slow loss then. Given your shape and medical conditions, it is going to likely be a slow process for you anyway, sorry to say.
Since you are under medical care anyway, and your Doc knows you are doing SB, I would ask him/her as well what he/she recommends. |

Thanks RedRox to seperate out the thread! you guys are great moderators. Thanks DebbieC for your suggestion.. it makes sense..
i did call my doctor and he said it is great that i am doing south beach diet. he supports it fully. i have an appt with him after a month to check with new medication results. i will then also talk to him about goitrogens veggies and soy products..
So far no loss or gain but this diet taught me how to stay away of bad food and be in control of cravings.. i am so.. happy for that :) |
