Hi,

I am just getting a little frustrated I am on day 5 of phase 1 and haven't lost a pound. I just wanted to make sure that I am eating right.

Breakfast: HB egg, quiche (SB cookbook) or FF plain yogurt

Snack: Veggies, nuts or cheese stick

Lunch: I always have a salad or lettuce wrap with chicken or prawns in it, I always add veggies and use the spray vinegerrte dressing

snack: cottage cheese or any of the above snaks

Dinner: shrimp stirfry with snow pease, green beans, green pepper and cauliflower (SB cookbook) All my dinners come from the SB cookbook

Dessert: SB PB cookies, jello or skinny cow dessert (they are made with splenda and I only eat half)

I drink water all day and occasional use crystal lite singles.

I think I am doing everything right, so I don't understand.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Are you cautious enough about nuts? You can have 1 nut serving daily, and the pb cookies would be included in that. The food list in my FAQ has what constitutes a serving.

Also, use real dressing with good fats, not the spray stuff.

A lot of the Skinny Cow products are not good for SB-- it's not just about being SF.

Really, though, 5 days just isn't that long, and all this depends on so many factors anyway: height/weight, sex, activity level, previous diet, etc.

Do you mean these peanut butter cookies:
http://www.amazon.com/Cookies-Peanut-Butter-5-1-Ounce-6-Count/dp/B000FA395S/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=grocery&qid=1209753570&sr=8-2
? These are not for P1. I don't know if it would directly affect your weight loss, but it means you are eating as if you're already in P2 or P3.

The Jell-O is sugar-free, right? And the Skinny Cow products are also sugar-free, right? ("Made with Splenda" doesn't mean that's all they're made with.)

I assume they mean the homemade ones that use just peanut butter, eggs, and artificial sweetener.

Re: Skinny Cow, even if sugar-free, that still doesn't give them an automatic pass. There are still other bad carbs (like white flour) and bad fats to consider. Like I said, it's not just about being SF.

How much do you have to lose? People with less to lose tend to lose weight much more slowly. Even so, Phase 1 is not the weight-loss phase at all. South Beach sadly advertises as losing lots of weight fast, but you need to understand your body. Phase 1 is to set your blood sugar straight, and Phase 2 is to lose. I suggest you don't expect to lose any weight whatsoever on Phase 1, since that's not what it's for, and focus on the good you're doing your body right now. Give your body a chance. It's only been five days. But if it makes you feel better, I didn't lose anything my first week, either, and I've now lost 80 pounds on the Beach. Keep your chin up, loos like you're doing great!
