Hi,
My sister-in-law told me how she lost 8# in 2 weeks on SB, so I decided to try it. I'm on day 4, and have lost 3.5# so far. I'm noticing my clothes already fit better and my tummy is shrinking a bit. It's a nice feeling, especially since hitting my 30's (a couple years ago), it's been SO difficult to lose any weight. This actually is working, and I'm not feeling too deprived, but I sure could have gone for some ice cream last night. I didn't have any, and am feeling very confident today.

How is it working for you?

Hi Runnindb:

I'm on day 3 of the diet...going very good so far...I just need to stick with it long term! I tend to try every diet under the sun and give up after two weeks. But not this time! I am determined to change my lifestyle and loose this weight once and for all...I've spent my entire 30's being overweight, I am now 41 and really want to stop the insanity and get healthy! I really like SB and feel its definitely something I can do for a lifetime. I don't find it to be too hard or restrictive. These first couple of weeks will be the hardest and then I think it will become much easier as time goes on.

I got a great "snack" tip from someone on another SB website...if you like Chickpeas, you HAVE to try this:

Rinse a can of organic chickpeas (garbanzo beans) well
In a bowl, mix a little sesame oil, salt, pepper and whatever other spices you like (I used chili pepper-YUMMY)
Spread out on a coookie sheet and bake at 400 degrees until they start to brown. It can take up to 40 mintues to brown, but you really have to judge for yourself as to how crispy you want them. I could have cooked them longer, I like them very crispy!

I made these last night for the first time and let me tell you, YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY!!!! They are on the dry side, but the upside to this is that you will need to drink lots of water with it! Also, they taste best if you eat them right away...I made mine late last night and had just a taste...I put them in a zip lock and brought them to work with me today. I tasted them and although they are still GOOD, they aren't really crunchy anymore.

Hope you like! Good luck with the SB!!!

Interesting sounding snack there, might have to try it.

Day 4 for also! Looks like a good place for my first post.
6 ft. Male, 49 yrs old.
Just broke 200 lbs for the first time in my life last week, decided it was time for a change. I'm happy at 185...175 - 180 would be great. So it's 15 to 25 lbs for me.
I've lost 4 already since Monday morning. Not that exciting after reading it's all water or muscle but hey, it's something.

I'll start with this, Breakfast is my favorite meal now. Really look forward to it. 2 whole eggs, Low Fat Swiss, a little mushroom, little tomato, all scrambled up. I brown the mushrooms a bit first. I love it.
I also cook up a very small amount of pork sausage, probably not really SB Friendly but it's very small as I said, and it really makes the meal.

After reading the last 4 days, I know I cant possibly eat enough veggies to comply, so yesterday I went out and bought some V8, been drinking a cup up that with every meal. Any problems with that?

I do work in an environment with a cafeteria and a good salad bar. Been making some good salads, lots of beans, and other goodies.

Black coffee in the morning is not as bad as I thought it would be, I'm a sugar fanatic, 2 1/2 spoons of sugar in my coffee. Well not any more. I think I can acutally taste my coffee now:)

The nut snacks are good.

Well lets get through this Phase 1 and move on.

Later
Monty

I always found the no sugar added fudgesicle a good allowed treat as a substitute for ice cream. There's a PB cup dessert that combines that, some natural PB and some SF/FF whipped topping if you like into a fairly decadent tasting P1 dessert that has always been a forum favorite, although also fairly "frankenfood-ish".

Day 4 for me as well. Monday must have been a popular day to start.

This is my third time on phase 1. I had great sucess with this diet two years ago. Loved it.

I never counted pounds. I dropped 3 clothes sizes and decided not to worry about the pounds.

I gradually gained the weight back. In January, I went back on phase 1 and had no success. I was really unhappy. I quit after 5 weeks. I wasn't perfect on it (ate a little more cheese and nuts than I should have, but that was the only thing I could see that I did wrong). I cut back so much, it was very discouraging. I wonder if there is a metabolism thing that happens after you've done this diet before - the next time you try, your body goes into energy conservation mode? Anyone know?

I'm giving it another try and happy to be trying again. I feel good after 4 days. Can't tell if I've lost anything, but feeling good is a start.

I'm falling short of the good carbs. Reading all of the posts on this board has helped me see that. I have a little bit of a bad taste in my mouth. It isn't horrible, but it is there.

Although I have read the book, I didn't realize that I could eat beans in phase 1. I thought that by "beans" the book meant green beans. I'm almost afraid to eat them in fear that I will not lose weight.

I haven't touched nuts since I went overboard on them the last time. I will add them later, but I fear them right now.

I could use a little advice/encouragement on the carb front. I am drinking a cup or two of skim milk each day. Not much else happening on the carb front.

It is great to read all of your messages and get ideas. I really like some of the recipe ideas and love some of the recipes in the book.

Good luck everyone!

I was up to 180# at 5'6". :x I want to get down to 155# or so. I'm on my way. I also run and workout, so I shouldn't be losing too much muscle at all. I do think there is some water weight lost, but after the first few days, it's fat.

I have noticed my hunger and cravings is subsiding quite a bit. I'm not craving sweets as much (except for last night)!

Monty, try some Sweet & Low or Equal in your coffee, it really helps take the place of sugar.

A good snack I like is a teaspoonful of natural (not Jif) peanut butter. It really makes me feel like I'm having a treat, and is total protein.

I am a gigantic cow ( :P ) and so I started SBD - I'm on day six and I've lost 6 pounds so far.

So far it seems to be working pretty well, although yesterday was my toughest day. I had some reduced fat Thousand Island dressing that probably had too much sugar in it because as soon as I finished it, I had terrible cravings for sweets and pastries. Also, I skipped my chickpeas that day, so that probably contributed to my cravings, too. That was my toughest day so far.

I find that I can still get a sweet treat by eating 1/2 cup of fat free plain yogurt and adding sugar free jello mix and stirring it up. I also did that with 1/3 cup fat free cottage cheese and it wasn't as terrible as you might think.

The trick is to stay with it - so let's stay with it! We can do this!
