I only bought it one other time and it was real fishy tasting, but now they had it on sale and since this diet recommends fish, bought a #!

Is it ususally more fishy then say cod?

What is the best way and easiest way to fix it, can i just pan fry it in oo or maybe broil it? I did read some recipes here for it, but they are a lot more work then i want :P

Tilapia is not commonly known as one of the fishier fish. It should be mild in flavor like flounder.

I usually make a tin foil pouch with the fish. I'll take a big piece of foil and lay down a generous bed of spinach in the center. Then I lay the fish on the spinach and top with tomatoes & asparagus. I cut slices of lemon and lay them over the top & then drizzle everything with a little olive oil & add salt & pepper. Grab the sides and close it up crimping the tin foil on the middle & folding in the ends. I make it in the convection oven for about 15-20 minutes on 400. It's delish!

I had tilapia tonight. :D

I just sprinkled it with some salt, pepper, and a touch of cumin and pan fried it in a little olive oil with some green onion and garlic.

I don't particularly care for tilapia precisely because it doesn't really have much fish flavor and I love fish. So I think it's a great fish for those who don't like fish! ;) The parmesan crusted fish recipe in the recipe sticky thread is one of the great SB recipes that everyone who tries it seems to like and it works well with a fish like tilapia.

Here is the link to my favorite tilapia recipe that Redrox mentioned above:

About tilapia: I have purchased different brands over the years of frozen bags of tilapia. I did find one brand (don't know the name) that ended up tasting very fishy. It was a small blue bag of about 4-5 pieces of fish. Now I buy a large bag of frozen tilapia (no flavoring) at Sam's Club. So far all the fish have been good. They all come prewrapped in plastic sleeves so it is easy to grab a couple out of the bag.

You will really like the parmesan crusted fish. Try it.

I love tilapia, and I go against many people's advice and cook it frozen! I get a bunch of squares of foil, put one piece on each square (right out of the freezer), drizzle with a touch of olive oil, and sprinkle with seasonings. I like lemon pepper, dill, and a tiny bit of cayenne. (Make sure your lemon pepper doesn't have sugar in it - a few do.) I wrap each one up, put them all on a cookie sheet, and bake them at 250 for 25-30 minutes. Just open one packet up and make sure the center is done - should be light and flaky.

YUM!

I buy the tilapia loins instead of the fillets and have done variations of the foil packets. I think I found this in the quick and easy cookbook - put olive tapenade on the fillets before you add veggies to the packet for a mediterranean flavor.
Donna - frequently a strong 'fishy' flavor indicates that storage was less than perfect or it's older

I don't really like fish, and tilapia is one of the few I can eat regularly. I have a few different recipes I use....I buy individually wrapped also (a big box from Wal-Mart) and pull out what I need, throw them in a bowl of water for about 30 minutes to thaw them out, then either broil them or cook them on a griddle pan.

I tried flounder fillets this week and I really like them...not fishy.

Costco has mahi mahi for just over $5/# - OH MY that is good stuff!

I didn't find tilapia to be very fishy tasting, I instead found it to be a bit dry, and I poached it. I don't like fishy tasting fish myself, so thats why I chose tilapia. Unfortunately, my body did not care for the tilapia. :(
