| I have teeth implants which for the most part I've been very happy with (though they are VERY expensive and we had to pay "out of pocket" as we don't have insurance that covers this). The other day I began to have "discomfort" and thought I might have (yet) another sinus infection so went to my doctor and got put on antibiotics. It got a bit better (most of the symptoms anyway) but still had the discomfort in my gum area...so went to see my oral surgeon for a "look-see". Come to find out I have a "pocket" there (had this happen a year ago and he tried to fix it then) and this time he said it isn't re-fixable so the implant will have to come out. Arrrrrrrggggghhhhh!!! When I told my husband, this didn't go well with him at all. He views this as an unneeded expense----despite the fact that teeth are needed to chew etc. He'd have just wanted me to pull all my teeth and have dentures which really isn't a viable way to go with dentistry today. I've been very thankful that I have these and they've worked well...except for this one---which I've had for some years now. I asked why this one wouldn't all of a sudden "take" and the surgeon says there's really not a good reason as it could be one of many. Sometimes it seems to just spontanteously happen, sometimes it could be plaque and tartar just like with the real teeth, it could be that bacteria gets in there somehow. He couldn't give it a diffiniative answer. Big sigh!!!!! I just needed a place to vent "my" frustration and thank you all for listening! |
