Just started yesterday! Does anyone have any suggestions for dining out?

I figure I have to be practical and realize I will have to eat out a couple of times during the next 2 weeks. I was thinking Panera must have a salad I can eat. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

If you like to go out to eat, I suggest you buy the SBD Dining Out guide.
It's a paperback full of general guidelines on what to oreder in different types of restaurants plus menu samples of national chains with specifics on what phase you can have certain items in their menus. It retails for $6. You can order it at amazon.com for less than that.

I don't have the Dining Guide with me, right now, so I don't remember if Panera is listed. Anyway, you can order a salad almost anywere and add some grill chicken breast or almost any meat or seafood almost anywhere. Ask the server what's in the salad and if in dough, ask or vinegar and oil for dressing.

Happy eating,

That's funny - I'm sitting here at Panera and was just wondering the same thing. I chose first and then settled in to look at their website to see if I made a good choice or not.

I chose the Pick 2: Fandango Salad and Black Bean Chili. I swapped the usual Raspberry Vinaigrette for a Meyer Lemon Vinaigrette on the side. I left the mandarin oranges off the salad.

Looking at the ingredients off the website, the Lemon Vinaigrette was not the best choice. I think the Greek salad would have been better. I only used 1/2 oz. of the dressing, though, so it could have been worse.

The black bean soup looks like it was the best choice, despite the really high sodium - which all of the soups have - and the vegetable broth that includes potatoes.

I'm not going to beat myself up over some potato in broth or even the sugar in the dressing. I figure this WOE is about making the best choices you can. Considering that this time last week I was sitting at the same table downing broccoli cheddar soup in a bread bowl with an Asian Chicken Salad with crunchy wontons and a gigantor double chocolate cookie, I'd say I'm making better choices.

I wondered if the lemon dressing was okay. I think it normally comes on the salmon salad. I too, think that if I try to make the "best" choices while I'm out can only help.

I'm really busy and know that it's bound to happen sometime this week. Although I will try really hard to bring a lunch every day.

As long as I can steer clear of the bread!

I'm feeling pretty confident that the next 12 days will only bring good

Sometimes you just have to eat out and there is no way around it - for me it will be the same when I start with SBD, I am certain of that. But I think if you don't give in to your cravings and just try to find the food that best fits your diet phase it shouldn't be too much of a problem!
