Hi,

I am totally new to the SB. I am learning online and going to get the book tonight. I have 80-100 pds. to lose. All gained last 8 yrs after having several children. I hate to excer. b/c I am too tired most of the time. I also have 4 young kids.

Should I only do Phase I for 2 weeks? What about eating refired beans? regular or fat free- are these ok? I like black beans too. What about milk- I don't really like it except with cookies! So is it necessary I really drink it daily or is just cheese ok??

How about ketchup? I was going to have a hamburger tonight- no bun, but I love ketchup! Should i wait to really start the diet it after I have read the whole book and have a plan or can I start a modified plan?

For instance today I had 1 egg/3 whites veggie omlette w/ cream cheese, diet cokes, a handful of honey roasted and regular peanuts, salad at lunch with turkey, peppers, cucmbers, Olive oil and balsamic vinegar, a sprinkle of blue cheese dressing and a slice of colby cheese. Felt full ! then baked brownies and cookies for a church event and ate 1 chocolate chip cookie and lil pieces of brownie! Ugh. so I am kind of doing the plan- but should I read more and be more strict with the foods???

thanks for the help!

My suggestion would be to make healthy choices and read the book, once you are prepared to start thats when you should start.

While waiting for the book, read the FAQ and the stickies at the top of the forum to get an idea of what foods are and are not allowed.

there is a brand new SBD book coming out April 29th it will have updated info and an exercise plan. you may want to wait for that one.

figure out a way to get some exercise in with your children. it's good for all of you for so many reasons. take a walk, ride bikes, play ball... swim... so many things you can do with them.

yes 2 weeks to bust the cravings.

Quote: What about eating refired beans? regular or fat free- are these ok?

refried beans are fine if they are fat-free and/or vegetarian.

milk or yogurt is a good idea. I don't drink milk myself but i do put it in my oatmeal (that's phase 2 food) you can eat plain low fat yogurt now with sweetener to help get your dairy in.

cheese is considered protein on SBD and not dairy.

have you read the ingredients of your ketchup? it's full of added sugar. use mustard.

you might want to read the stickies and the FAQ at the top of the forums to get an idea of what's going on.

Quote: For instance today I had 1 egg/3 whites veggie omlette

sounds good

Quote: w/ cream cheese,

was that low or reduced fat cream cheese?

Quote: diet cokes,

1-2 diet sodas a day. learn to drink water if you can

Quote: a handful of honey roasted and regular peanuts,

honey roasted nuts are not good. full of sugar
dry roasted is better
nuts are limited a handful might be too many.. you will have to check

Quote: salad at lunch with turkey, peppers, cucmbers, Olive oil and balsamic vinegar, a sprinkle of blue cheese dressing and a slice of colby cheese. Felt full !

olive oil AND blue cheese dressing? 1 tablespoon of oil OR 2 tablespoons of SBD legal salad dressing is a fat...
that cheese might have more than 6g of fat per serving and be too high in fat....

you really need to read the FAQ and the Stickies and the book.

it will help you understand what's going on...
