Hi again,
I know I can get 99% of the South Beach diet specifics online, but I decided to buy the book as a reference. I got a great deal on it (on Ebay)
Im also going to get the cookbooks & dining out guide. I want to have ALL the tools I need on hand when I dive into SBD.
Is there any contradicting information in that SBD book or outdated info in the book that I need to know about?
I thought I read somewhere that they had tweaked a few things in the past few years.
Also which cookbook is your favorite? I see there are at least 3.
Thanks Again :D |

| until then the food lists here (the one of foods to use/enjoy) linked into the FAQ thread (not the ones to the right) is probably your most current source. the book is best for all the background info and whys and hows. the specifics in terms of menus in particular are not that great IMO. |

| I have a sneaky feeling the new book is going to cut a lot of things out. Only because it promises faster weight loss. Nessa and RedRox, will you be posting the updates on this site? |

The updates here come from the Paid South Beach site..... the updates there come from the actual South Beach dieticians....
The last book was written for the type of patient Dr. A was treating at the time (obese, cardiac patients)... before we all caught wind of it....
The updates will probably not include much that we don't already have here..... it's just a more main stream America "user friendly" book... (which thankfully... will focus more on exercise also than the first book.) |

Well I would hope someone would update the core set of info if something substantial changed, but I wasn't planning on buying the book or anything, so hopefully those that do would post the new info. Or if it gets sent to me I can edit existing food lists and things like that.
Nessa has her own board to take of so she's probably not going to do anything here if that is what you meant. |

Gotcha. Thanks. These boards have been a lifesaver for me and I'm sure a lot of other people on SB.
I started the end of February this year, so everything was pretty much set in place as far as updates and such. I was just wondering how it worked if and when something changed. |

| BTW, I'm not sure "the new book is going to cut a lot of things out". I think the "supercharged" part of it refers to a stronger focus on exercise along with the existing dietary plan to aid in weight loss by recognizing and elevating the caloric expenditure part of the equation. And frankly "promising" even faster rates of weight loss will only create more frustration with people who will assume the best possible outcome and become even more discouraged when it does not occur and continue to encourage the "dieting" mentality that faster weight loss = better weight loss when in fact nothing could be further from the truth. But putting an additional focus on the health and weight management aspects of a regular exercise program to go along with a healthy dietary program is a good thing and if you look at the successful vets here, something we all have both practiced and "preached" for awhile. |

| FWIW, Nessa has put up the small amount of changes to the food lists on her forum site. I'll work on incorporating similar changes in the food lists here as well as my time allows. Maybe over the weekend. I'm planning to just edit the existing threads so everyone's links and bookmarks will continue to work properly. When I make the changes, I'll put an intro at the top to let everyone know when they were updated and the source of the new info so you will know if you are seeing the new stuff. Anyway, just thought I'd give an update if anyone else was just curious. ;) |

Well, I've decided there must be some form of exercise that won't be painful or injurious. So I'm going to the Wellness Center tomorrow to talk to the trainers and schedule a session to find out what I can do. I have to do something. Good eating keeps you healthy but I know to keep losing, I have to add more activity (burn more calories).
Thanks, RedRox, for the message on updating us. |

| Finished the P1 foods to enjoy list and the P1 foods to avoid list. The foods to avoid list is the next post under the Foods to Enjoy list so it is together in the same thread, not in a different one. You can find it as always from a link in Kimboroni's several FAQ threads near the top of several of the main forums here (SBD, P1 and P2). Will work on the P2 lists next. |
