Alright Mr. Sumo diet.
Once again your lack of research and open mindedness shocks me.
Here are plenty of links leading to results that are the opposite of your supposed Sumo diet.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7371626
http://chetday.com/warriordietantiaging.htm
http://ezinearticles.com/?Effects-of-Fasting-on-Body&id=926827
http://www.selfgrowth.com/articles/Tiniakos7.html
http://www.davedraper.com/cardio-empty-stomach.html
If those aren't enough for you I would say maybe you should give it a try.
I exercise on a completely empty every day and have noticed a tremendous increase in my abilties. My cardio has drastically increased, my muscles are denser and I am far stronger and leaner than I have ever been in my entire life.
Let's seriosuly try and do some research. |

SBD was given the stamp of approval. would your plan be? I think not.
I think it is awesome that you diet with your kids, I wish more people would pay attention to their kids diets.
I agree with consulting a physician, or pediatrician for the kiddies, before starting a diet as some people have certain health needs and restrictions. |

First link offers next to nothing to this discussion. Eight subjects were tested? Are they joking? Eight? And they are testing to see if metabolism was effected based on eating differently for one day? And this relates to a lifestyle change how?
Second link was authored by the same person as the diet.
Third link is on fasting. I never suggested that fasting was without benefit. Eating one meal a day is not fasting. It's eating one meal a day. Forever.
Fourth link is not scientific or scholarly in any manner. It's the opinion of a blogger.
Fifth article, which should be titled "bonk training" is nothing new and something I know plenty about. The Warrior Diet is intended as a weight loss program, citing competitive bodybuilding techniques is a pretty far stretch.
Again, you're the author, right?
And I'll stand by the Sumo comment because it is irrefutable...that's how Sumo wrestlers eat. They don’t eat breakfast so they are starving by late in the day and can eat 5-10X a normal diet. Over eating late in the day causes a drop in metabolism and encourages the body to store fat. |

Thanks for the thread. I enjoyed reading it. I have realized that I'm pretty sure adventure took the wrong pill. But to each their own.
So how much weight have you lost Adventure? Do you have any links of testimony from other people about how much weight they lost and KEPT off? |

How exactly do you determine that one?

Really? What's your body fat percentage? With eating whatever the hell you want at night before you sleep, that must be pushin' 10... maybe 8%. |

First things first. What exactly is fasting then?
Link two, yeah I posted it so you could read about the study mentioned two paragraphs in, guess you just hate reading.
No this isn't just a weight loss kick, this is a lifestyle and therefor you should be able to do just about anything on it. Slim down, beef up, get tone...etc.
Finally not only have you not posted any of your own research but frankly this sumo diet of yours is verbatim off of a blog and happens to be the only thing close to what you said.
How about instead of whining about my research you show me some of yours? |

Personally I have gone from a solid 155 down to a 145. I am pretty sure I started the thread out with all this info but if not I am 5'6.5", male, 20, and as of my last weighing (yesterday) I am 145lbs.
Testimonials here we go:

Now if your not like our body up there who seems to hate reading then you will also find some here:

Well to determine muscle density all you need to do is look at how hard/flabby your muscles are unflexed. The harder they are when you are not the more dense they are.
Once again I have no idea what my BF% is, read my first post. But if I had to guess I would say I am down around 10% as my abs are beginning to show. |

PS not selling anything. maybe I am mistaken but this is an area of the forum called "Other Diets." Also you don't need to buy anything, you can do it all for free, every bit of information you need you can find online for free. Once again quit flaming and start researching. |

Adventure wrote: First things first. What exactly is fasting then?
There are many different ways that people fast. My friends just finished a eat-one-time-a-day fast for 40 days. Now they eat normal.
They've also done fasts where they don't eat anything for 40 days.
They've also only juiced fruits and veggies.
They've also not eaten meat.
There's all kinds.
But it's for spiritual reasons, not diet reasons.
And like I said, they go back to eating "normal". 'Cause it's just for a time. Cause eating one time a day isn't healthy for long periods of time. Eating once a day wrecks havoc on your digestive system if you're ingesting 2,000+ cals. all in one sitting.
Studies have shown that to speed up your metabolism - you should eat every 3-4 hours. We all know that a fast metabolism helps keep off the weight.
This diet doesn't seem very healthy at all..... |

You came on acting like you wanted info about SBD for your brother but instead you post about a ridiculous food plan and method and asked for input. Well here is my input; I am currently a researcher and your diet is unhealthy and unrealistic to sustain. People come on here to learn about eating healthy and changing their lifestyle. Your posts are confusing and dangerous to those who are looking for a quick fix or magic wand to cure their obesity. Why come on here and challenge us to provide you with research. Losing ten pounds makes you no expert. |
