Question about home-made hummus

I've made some hummus and I'm not sure how much I can have for one of my snacks. I know the serving size for shop-bought hummus is 2 tbsp but I imagine that has more oil than mine does, so I was wondering if I'd be able to have a bit extra!

The whole recipe consists of 1 cup chickpeas, some dry roasted red peppers (I didn't measure these), 1 tbsp olive oil and 1 1/2 tbsp tahini.

Would it be ok to have a quarter of what I've made, or would that be too much? It's just that 2 tbsp is hardly anything!

with 1 cup chickpeas you figure that you have 2-3 servings so 1/4 of what you made would be more than fine... IMO

Thanks Nessa, I thought that was probably the case but wasn't sure about the oil. I shall go ahead and enjoy it (actually there's loads there, I may not manage a quarter of it!)

Indigo,

Do you use a blender or food processor for this recipe?

don't know what Indigo used, but I find it much easier to use a food processor.

I've made homemade hummus for years. I love the stuff! But I would strongly recommend using a food processor if you have one, unless you have a very high-quality blender. I've fried two blenders over the years making hummus! The things can crush ice, but for some reason hummus tends to get too goopy for them.

Another vote for food processor. I have made it for years but add garlic to mine. We love lots of garlic. :)
