I've just read the book and am anxious to get started. I'm curious though if Phase I is necessary with only 10 to 12 pounds to lose. That was not mentioned in the book; however, I did notice on the SB website that it isn't necessary. I don't eat sugar or refined carbs and haven't for about the last 3 years, unless I'm in a situation where it's difficult to avoid, i.e. a guest at someone else's house. That being said, I want to do this right. Would it make sense to do P1 for one week instead? Any thoughts/comments/suggestions/past experiences would be greatly appreciated.

if you already eat fairly healthy and you only have 10-12 pounds to lose you may find that the loss is very very slow on this plan. what you may need to do is up your exercise.

If you can follow P2 without any problem then there is no reason to do P1.

Great, thanks. I can handle slow loss as long as it's steady and not up and down. I also want to try this WOE to lower my cholesterol. I'm genetically predisposed to high cholesterol and nothing else I've tried seems to work to bring it down. I don't wish to go on medication, so I'm going to give this plan a good effort and see if anything happens. Now that the weather is nicer and I can get outside, I'm going to try to increase my exercise as well. Currently, I spend 30 minutes on the elliptical about 4 days a week. Thanks again for your replies.

Everyone's weight goes up and down. Even on SBD.
