| so, I started p2 today, and I am curious about different types of pasta I can eat. I know I can eat whole wheat pastas, but, how about spinach pasta? Or even spinach wraps? |

For the spinach pasta you need to read the label to make sure it's made from whole-wheat pasta, it's actually pasta with spinach in the dough, same goes for the wrap, make sure that either one have at least 3 g of fiber per serving.
Enjoy, |

| Oooh - what about Quinoa pasta? I saw that today, and thought it might be a good choice for when I get to P2. Would it be ok? (Not everyday, but sometimes?) |

spinach pasta and wraps are usually just enriched flours with some spinach in it for coloring and are typically not whole grains.
I think the quinoa pasta would qualify if that was the only grain in it or was blended with other whole wheat/whole grain flours. In other words, as long as they don't blend it with enriched wheat/durum flours. |

Read the label, make sure it has at least 3 g of total fiber per serving.
I had a sample of pizza with the base made of spelt, except when I asked to see the package, I discovered it only had 1 g of fiber and the spelt was processed just like wheat. What a dissapoitment :(
People that serve samples at stores "love" me. I'm always telling why I wouldn't buy their "great" product  |

Just my two cents--
Most spinach or flavored pastas are made with semolina flour and the veggie juice. The same is true with most wraps. I have found flavored Tortilla Factory whole wheat tortillas (our favorite!) that would work. The key there, though, is "whole wheat" tortillas.
You really need to read the ingredients and look for the fiber as ami mentions above. |

Bummer - I just looked up the nutritional info for the Quinoa pasta, and it only has 2.5 g of fiber per serving, AND the ingredients state "A blend of corn and quinoa flours." Which probably means it's mostly corn.
PFFFFFT.
Well, at least learned BEFORE I bought it. Thank you all for the information - I'll get the hang of this label reading soon! |

Tinkyada is a brand of pasta made from brown rice. That's what I buy for my daughter who cannot have wheat. It only has 2g of dietary fiber, though.
It cooks/tastes like regular wheat pasta. You'd have to find in in a Whole Foods as it is not readily available in very many commercial grocery stores. |

| So is whole wheat semolina ok? Or is it anything to do with semolina or duram? |

Those are types of wheats. You need to check the label to make sure it has at least 3 g of total fiber per serving. The problem is sometime they over process the wheat. |
