Overeating

I am overeating.......a lot. I don't really know why. I just started doing it like 2 or 3 days ago. I am having a particular amount of trouble overeating Ricotta. I ate an entire tub of LF Ricotta yesterday.

I just remembered I ate a container of cherry tomatoes too.

I don't know what to do. If I am at home sitting on the couch and I think about a certain food, I just have to have it. I will sit there and obsess over it if I don't. Maybe not really a certain food.......just food in general. I eat a lot when I am not hungry and I just am at a loss. I don't know what to do with my lack of self control.

Any suggestions? I suppose I need to quit buying Ricotta for a start. I'll just think of something else to obsess about and eat though.......I am so frustrated.

I quit smoking last year, and I swear that was easier than weight loss. How sad.

I sympathise as I've been through this too, and I'm sure it's not that uncommon. I've just started doing the Beck Diet Solution and am finding it really helpful for dealing with all the reasons I eat (other than hunger). There's a support group here:

Why not have a look and see what you think?

Good luck!

Well, I have registered for that website and am still waiting to hear back from the mods so that I can access the site. Thanks for the link though!

Starting today I am going to count calories for a few days so that I can get a feel for how much I should eat. There are just some foods I can't keep in the house I guess......I still crave something sweet after dinner, so I am not sure how to handle that. I think I am going to have a warm mug of ff milk with Splenda and nutmeg for now, and probably switch to an apple for P.2. Maybe if I go enough days beating myself back from the kitchen I will get used to not eating at night?

I say all this during the day, however, and not at night while I am faced with eating or not. I really hate the evenings for that........I just can't stay out of the refrigerator. It needs a padlock.

What about the peanut butter cup dessert? That takes a little more time to prepare than the ricotta cremes, and it's made with things that I have less tendency to pig out on. It's easier for me to stick to a single fudgesicle, since they are individually wrapped, and I'm not going to just sit and eat coolwhip or peanut butter. For some reason I'm just more tempted to chow down on containers of dairy products in my fridge than the others.

I also have a huge appetite. One thing that works for me is to make a tray of sugar free jello, and then eat the whole thing! It's only about 80 calories, I think, and it is sweet and will fill you up! I am not sure if it is technically ok on the south beach diet, but it works for me.
But it is not for everyone, for sure! It just works for me sometimes and it may work for you!

I am a 5 foot 9 male, I started at 204 lb last Thanksgiving, I am now 180.25 lb, and my goal is 167 lb.
