Hi PixiesMom! I found my way to your journal as well.
First off, CONGRATS to you and your hubby on the jobs! I must have missed that in the threads - way to go!
And even though it's a week old, I second not scolding yourself for the beer! Alcohol is allowed in moderation in P2, and I have some almost every day. It's usually a glass or two of wine, but sometimes it's a gin and diet soda. I keep it low (never more than 2) but I enjoy the wine and I don't want to give it up - I did during P1, but now in P2 I'm just working hard on moderation.
Now, a light "I know I shouldn't eat that too often" thought for the ribs and fries is ok, but not worth any major stress. We're all going to have non-SB foods once in a while, and celebrations are certainly good times to do so. Just don't let yourself fall down the slippery slope of adding in too many celebrations, as I am tempted to do! I need to keep them to true celebrations - my birthday, immediate family weddings or birthdays, new jobs, etc... not "some sort-of-close friend's birthday" or "hey it's Friday!" (Not that you were doing that - that's something I know I am easily tempted to do.)
You sound like you're doing great on this WOE so far - keep up the good work! |

Oh I have definitely found myself in the past celebrating fridays... heck even 5 o'clock LOL!!! That's what I've found most challenging. Thanks to phase 1 the cravings are gone... but the mental addiction to maybe ice cream after a hard day, or treats after a big game, celebrating the end of track season with a pizza & ice cream trip - those are the sort of things that I have to rehardwire in my brain. It's taking some creativity but I think it's all just trail and error!
I'm glad you found my journal - now off to see if you've posted that muffin recipe :) |

Yesterday morning I made oatmeal pancakes and they were heavenly! This a.m. I made oatmeal and stirred in berries. Those were both wonderful!
For lunch today I had eggs w/ cheese a slice of ww toast and tons of cherry tomatoes Mmm
Dinner - meatballs, tomato sauce, 1/2 c. ww pasta and an orange (or about)
Just realized I was super short on veggies today! Yikes! I will work on that tomorrow.
I say about an orange bc my children kept asking for some... so 3 oranges later I think I got at least a few wedges! I am working on changing my shopping habits. In the beginning I bought their items and "my" items. Well turns out they love my stuff! Which I know is good - but means that our grocery bill is increasing & I have to make more of everything! Today I came home from the grocery store with 2 1/2 bags full of fresh produce. That gets expensive! I just keep thinking it's good for us and thank the Lord above DH landed a job! So I'm working on changing my habits to be more inclusive of my family.
It's just odd bc when I started they were more worried about what I couldn't eat. Now 5 or 6 weeks into it they are grubbing on my groceries! What a flip LOL! |

Last evening I made the oatmeal muffins from the SBD Supercharged book. We all had one for breakfast this morning and they were fabulous. We actually all rolled out of bed late for church so I had to grab and go. I froze some for this week and intend to have veggie sausages with them for a quick breakfast.
B: Oat muffin
S: Apple w/ peanut butter
L: Spinach salad w/ left over grilled steak & a slice of cheese, Cesar dressing. Left over kale from the other night.
S: diet coke
D: 1 piece of veggie pizza, big salad
Dessert: Probably another warm brownie because they make me sooo happy :)
Oh and yesterday I joined a thread over in the fitness section to do 100 situps for 100 days in a row and 30 push ups for 30 days. So I've been doing that as well.
I have my herb garden all ready for the season and tons of chives, sage and white thyme. I don't have good recipes for any of these so am completely open to suggestions! |

Memorial Day -
Just in case I don't get the opportunity to post later I'm starting now :)
My menu will be as follows: snacks TBD
B: Salsa eggs
L: hotdog (grilled all beef no bun), grilled veggies, melon soup
D: Either left overs or broccoli pie
Here are the things I'm thinking of:
*I still have some $$ left from my birthday for just frivilous spending (which I don't do often). I'm considering using it to fund a yoga class. I used to go at the Y and loved it! But even if we still had our membership, the classes are during the day and with my new job I couldn't make it. But I love the effects of yoga on my mood so I may just try another place.
*We have discontinued our herd share for raw milk. Since I drink a lot of milk I hope to see the effect on my waistline! 6% milkfat to skim will be quite a jump - I hope I can stomach it!
*I feel the need to cut back on one carb. I'm working on 2 fruits and 1 carb for the next week. I'm worried that the extra carb is giving me some random cravings... it may just be the TOM but this is my battle plan just in case. |

Well, I stepped on the scale today and it's up .8 of a pound. But the scale is not going to dictate my happiness... so here's my list of positive changes that I've made permanently -
Of course way more veggies every single day!
0 sugar and not missing it!
wholegrain foods
a 30 minute walk everyday (on my lunch break)
push ups and sit ups daily
workout video a couple times a week for the fun of it
Tomorrow I'm checking out a new yoga studio opening up in town. Even just one class a week would be fabulous.
Things I need to focus on for the upcoming week:
Portion control for sure. Especially on items such as peanut butter, nuts, and dairy.
Posting menus everyday for scrutiny |

| Ok so I'm going hour to hour at this point :) And it's now about 1:30 and I've been clean all day thus far. It's extremely rainy and we stood out in it for about 1 -1/2 hour for a parade. TONS of candy - even some bit o'honeys but I didn't fail!!! Due to the rain we are putting off cooking out until tomorrw and I'm off to make a huge batch of chili to freeze some and have for dinner. Hour by hour just for today :) |
