| Is there a better (as far as SBD goes) kind to buy? I got the ruby red ones, and man they are good. So good I'm wondering if maybe I shouldn't be eating them! They did have two other kinds, some large ones and something else. Is the ruby red ok? I had a 1/2 one today. |

I believe whichever you prefer..
From the Daily Dish:
In the News: Vitamin C and Your Joints
A recent study published in the Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases suggests that a diet high in vitamin C may help protect against rheumatoid arthritis.
The study, performed at the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom, focused on the development of inflammatory polyarthritis, a type of rheumatoid arthritis involving more than one joint. Scientists found that participants who consumed the most vitamin C from fruit and vegetable sources were three times less likely to develop inflammatory polyarthritis than those who consumed the least vitamin C.
What does this mean for the South Beach dieter? It's simply another reason to eat a balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables. The best natural sources of vitamin C are tomatoes (Phase 1); green vegetables including peppers, broccoli, and spinach (Phase 1); citrus fruits like oranges and grapefruit (Phase 2); cantaloupe (Phase 2); and sweet potatoes (Phase 2). So be sure to enjoy whichever of these foods you prefer most to get your regular dose of C! |

| I'm just smiling because it always seems funny when we get worried about foods we like!! Like if we like it, it can't possibly be good for us or allowed on a "diet"! ;) yet the two things should not be mutually exclusive! and really usually aren't. |

Pink or ruby red grapefruit are a good source of lycopene, good for everyone but especially important for men.

My personal rule of thumb when it comes to fruits and vegetables is, the more colorful, the better. This isn't always true - for example, white mushrooms may be just as good as brown ones. But really, fruits and vegetables are so good for you that you can hardly go wrong with any on the list. |
