| I assume that SF Jello is listed in many of the Phase 1 lunches because it gives one a bit of sweetness. Unfortunately, aspartame and I don't get along well at all--it gives me heart palpitations and light-headedness. Are there any other options out there, or do I just do without? |

| You don't have to follow the menus in the book at all, or use any artificial sweeteners if you don't want to for that matter. Unfortunately most of the "sweet treats" on the plan do involve artificial sweeteners. Does splenda/sucralose disagree with you as well? You can probably find some other options in the Recipe Summary sticky thead at the top of the Recipe and Food forum here. The P1 FAQ sticky thread at the top of the P1 forum will have links to updated food lists and meal planning templates if you want to design your own menus using the food lists. Fruit becomes another naturally sweet dessert option in P2 as well. |

| I've found all artificial sweeteners to give me stomach troubles, and have since turned to natural sources (which are much better for you, by the way). The one sweetener that has no negative effects on my sensitive stomach is stevia, which is a natural plant extract. I encourage you to try it! |

Some people with allergies specially to ragweed have problems using Stevia, so try it and find out if it works for you.
You can also try Agave (from a cactus it has fructouse and you have to count the calories toward your 100 calories from treats).
And Whey low, some peopl like it http://www.wheylow.com/Default.asp |
