Hi! I'm new to this board, and I want to personally thank all of you for your posts- they have been very helpful in making my decision to go on this diet...er..lifestyle change :)

Here's my question (2 actaully)

I take a lot of pyschotropic drugs- 9 different meds a day. I read a post and someone asked if medications affect SBD. i saw that several of you said medications for depression and other things make it very difficult to loose weight on this diet. I did weight watcher a few months ago and lost almost 20 lbs in the first 6 weeks. I got frustrated and went off it though, and since gained by 6 pounds. If I lost weight before on another diet, do you think I could still loose weight on SBD? Is there something about SBD that makes it harder to loose weight on those types of meds than other diets?

And, I have hypoglycimia. Because I wont be eating any carbs/sugars for those two weeks, wont my blood sugar drop alot?

Because of the way that some diets are designed, you can end up losing some muscle rather than just fat. A rapid weightloss such as yours can indicate that. SB is so balanced that after the initial water loss, all you should lose is fat.

You should be eating carbs (starches and sugars) on all phases of the plan. There are adequate amounts in the veggies, dairy, and legumes that are allowed in p1. You have to make sure to eat regularly in order to prevent low blood sugar, rather than trying to raise it once it has already dropped. That is more difficult with p1 foods, and going off-plan just starts the vicious cycle of lows/highs over again. You have to think preventively and plan/eat accordingly.
