| I miss the occasional glass of wine. I used to drink sweet wines. I do not like dry wines. Can anyone recommend a good, smooth, not dry red wine? |

Here is a recent thread with some pretty good suggestions...
Wine, another question

fwiw.... I am partial to white zin and reislings.
I don't care for dark reds and there are studies that have indicated that moderate amounts of all types of alcohol benefit your heart, not just alcohol found in red wine... (so those are the ones I go with!) :D |

| Thanks for the wine info. I guess it won't kill me to have my occasional zin. I've tried drinking red wine & I can't even swallow it! Yuk. |

| FWIW, as a general rule of thumb, those wines with a lower alcohol content will be sweeter and those with higher alchohol contents will be dryer. The less of the grape sugars that are converted to alcohol, the more residual sugar in the wine and therefore a sweeter wine. The more it is converted to alcohol, the higher the alcohol, the less the residual sugar and the dryer the wine. Grape types, fermentation methods & processes and other factors come into play too, but it is a simple indicator that is on the outside of every bottle in the US! ;) |

Just a suggestion: if you don't like the taste of dry red wine, try this:
Add a little Diet 7-up or Fresca to the wine. That will sweeten it up. You could even make a wine spritzer by adding more soda. |
