Hi, Everyone. I know we can have dried apricots in Ph2. What about dried cranberries (Craisons). They are so good in a romaine salad with toasted pecans and a oil/vinegar and splenda dressing.
If we can have them, how many?? |

| craisins, as most dried cranberries are, are sweetened with sugar. making them a no go. If you could find a plain dried cranberry, or one sweetened with a non-sugar product, that would probably work. The craisins bag says a serving is 1/3 cup so I'd probably go with that. |

They have dried fruits and veggies and add nothing to them.
Some grocery stores carry this brand of products in their health food sections also. Mine does.
FWIW... I have order from this "Just Tomatoes" site before.... the dried tomatoes are really good (and crunchy) on a salad.
I've also used the dried blueberries in muffins, pancakes, etc. |

| Have you ever tried the organic turkish apricots? I get them from my health food store. They are dark brown, more like a prune, since they don't use any preservatives to fix the orange color. I find they have a much deeper, earthier flavor and really prefer them to the "yellow" kind now. not really anything like cranberries as a substitute, just a different flavor that you might like to try if you like dried apricots. I like 'em, but my wife prefers the regular yellow kind, so clearly it's not a universal thing! ;) |

I pass a healthfood store on the way home from work. I'm going to try the turkish apricots. A lot of fun on this plan is trying new stuff.
I also ordered dried cranberries, tomatoes and pom seeds from the website, luvs_torun.
I couldn't find the pom seeds on my Ph2 list, but they are so full of antioxidents, I think they'll be okay in moderation.

| I have used fresh grapes, cut in half, in my salads in place of raisins or craisins. Give them a try--you will be surprised. |

| I have use almost any berry like rasberries or straberries in my salads specially fresh spinach salads, I also use fresh orange very often in salads. |

| Thanks, All, for the suggestions. I'll be eating a lot of really good salads as the hot weather gets here. And the sweet fruit with the savory salad dressings is right up my alley!!! And I toast pecans or whatever in the microwave and throw those on too. Soooooooooo good!!! |

| The Whole Foods in my neighborhood has dried cranberries (and other berries) that have no sugar added. They're in the bulk bins. It's just dried fruit and a little oil. They're very good, although kind of tart. |
