I hope there's at least one member on here who can relate to me and share some success stories with me to give me an inspiration not to give up and keep on trying.

I have PCOS and have been trying to conceive for over five years. The main obstacle for me to get pregnant is the fact that I'm overweight. I've been guaranteed by doctors that if I lose a considerable amount of weight, I'll be able to conceive naturally. I've been on many infertility treatments, including injections and whatnot and they all failed. So now I'm determined more than ever to do whatever it takes to lose some weight and conceive naturally.

I've tried so many diets, I've been through the hardest diets, but because I'm insulin resistant it's so much harder for me to lose weight. And the weight that I did lose, I gained back a short while after losing it.

I know this diet is different, it's a way of living and eating, and not starving and I'm willing live my life by it, but.... I really need to know if there are people on here who were in my situation, and this diet has helped them out.

Thank you so much for your time.

I am not trying to get preg, but I do have PCOS and am insulin resistant. I started in Oct 2007 on this diet and as you can see so far I have lost 60 lbs. There are many others around that are the same. Many people with PCOS have conceived naturally while on SBD.

I will tell you one thing. Even with birth control I have not had a period in probably 3-4 years. Within the last 3 months Ive gotten it twice. I am a firm believer that it is not just a weight thing it also has to be diet. I was not getting it when I was much skinnier than I even am now and even more active (although I am exercising now), now magically it came back. That has to tell us something.

I agree with your doctors, there are many many pcos patients that have great pregnancy success not only getting preg but staying preg while doing sbd, the other diet that is often recommended is an insulin resistance diet. Have you read any of the books? Its talked about in "A Patients Guide to PCOS".

I dont know how many people still watch this board but I know of a few on other boards that are in the same boat as you, their doctor suggested it and they are giving it a shot too.

I wish you all the luck in the world and hope that this does work for you.

Wish you all the best as well. I do think there have been folks here with PCOS over the years that have had positive results with this dietary program. I used the Search link at the top and searched on PCOS only within the Health forum and turned up quite a few threads on the subject. Here are but just a few of the lengthier ones. Perhaps there is something within one or more of these that will help provide the hope you are looking for.

I began South Beach for the second time on Monday so I am right where you are - at the very beginning. I have researched Sugar Busters, The Sonoma Diet, Phil McGraw's system, done the Health Research Management and faithfully followed weight watchers and on ww lost the weight but unfortunately gained it back over time. There are others I have researched and bought the books for that I am not recalling right now.

The thing that makes me think this is going to work is that I have met and heard of so many people who have lost weight on this and kept it off, and you don't have to obsess over food quanities or count points or anything. I can just make sure I have acceptable foods in the house, do a little advance cooking so I always have something to eat and mix it up so I have variety. Listen to me after only 5 days! I'm no expert but I believe it this and you can too. Give it a try and see what happens.

How in the world do I get all this superfluous code off my weight loss ticker?

I am not so swift in the computer dept.

It's not really superfluous. When the code is put together properly, it becomes embedded in the image and then it becomes a clickable image back to the page you log into to edit it when you want to change it.

Easiest way to fix it is to go into your signature block in your profile, and cut or copy all of the existing text out and paste it into a word or text editor. Then you will see that there are spaces in the text string. Get rid of the spaces so it is all one continuous text string and then copy and paste it back into the signature block completely replacing any text that exist there if there is still the old ticker code there.

The other option of course is to use a different ticker site like tickercentral.com that actually produces ticker code that works here without having to be edited first to fix it. ;)

Red, I have been looking at the various tickers. They're wonderful. I was considering trying to add one to my posts, but............nevermind. I'm beyond computer illiterate!!!

I'm starting my 6th week on SB (I won't say diet) Plan - Phase 2 on Monday and couldn't be more content. I love to cook and experiment with new recipes. I love to take my time in the grocery store (like a Stepford Wife) and just meander up and down the aisles checking to see what is compatible with SB eating.

One of the things I found to be extremely helpful - I put all my salad fixings in a large ziplock bag - lettuce, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc. Then I mix a dressing and put that in a small plastic container. When lunch times comes, I add the dressing to the salad in the plastic bag along with some form of protein and "toss" my salad. And if I let it sit for about 10 minutes and then toss it again, it tastes like my salad is soaking in salad dressing. Ummmmmmm Good!!
