Why is it bad to eat a lot of fruit?
Before I started SBD, I used to eat a lot of fresh fruit everyday, more than three servings I think. I am now on Phase Two and I'm missing my fruits and was just wondering why SBD limits fruits so much.

Nessa's answer is the correct one. Fruit=fructose=sugars=calories.

Luckily fructose is a fairly low GI sugar and if you are eating the whole fruits, you are getting lots of other good things along with it including fiber which slows digestion of the sugars a bit. Pair it with some good fats and/or proteins and you can mitigate the blood sugar effects to an even greater extent. Honestly for most people, eating 3 servings of fruit a day would be quite an expansion, not a restriction! ;) If you wanted to tip the guidelines one way or another between fruits and grains/starchy veggies, I would tip in the direction of fruits myself. Caveats to watch for would be if you were pre-diabetic or had a family history of diabetes or if you notice hunger pangs/cravings returning from the addtional level of fruits/fructose or you notice an extended plateau. Remember, it's a guideline. Making the plan our own is part of the process as well.
