Hey All:

I started SBD on the 3rd of March (I am ending my first day in P2). I noticed that during the first week of P1; especially days 3-5, I was exhausted. Climbing up three flights of stairs to my apartment was so tiresome.

However, sometime between Days 8-13 of P1, I have felt an incredible amount of energy, no more tired muscles or being crabby. It feels amazing, and I feel great!

Does anyone know what is going on chemically inside my body that is upping my energy. More so than my body being rid of refined chemicals and heavy starches..

I do also notice I am no longer tired after a lunch at work..those bad carbs are sure evil!

I would guess the veggies are making a difference, as they have lots of vitamins and are really good for you. I notice the same thing when I eat a lot of veg - I have more energy, and I feel much happier too! I call veggies my 'happy foods' :D

Veggies are definitely happy foods!

I love the new burst of energy, it's great!

I think chemically it is about keeping your blood sugars more even and avoiding the blood sugar spikes, insulin response, blood sugar drop cycle that often leads to feeling tired. I think there is also something about going to a modified/lower carb program that gives us this feeling of increased energy but I'm not sure of the specific pathways and processes that seem to produce it.

I noticed that once I stopped eating sugars and refined carbs, I felt a ton better. Definitely more energy and less moodiness.
