total cholesterol 208 was 189
triglycerides 58 was 126
HDL cholesterol 53 was 47
LDL cholesterol 143 was 117
glucose 105
confused about increase w/ LDL & pleased about triglycerides & HDL.
Also had a HgbA1C & was 5.9 (very high normal to low abnormal depending on lab). Don't have a baseline but never had family or indication of diabetes.
BUN 23 (was fasting for bllod work & not well hydrated)
creatnine 0.85 (same as previous & normal)
trace protein in urine- not normal but did have WBCs & + leukocyte estrace - mild infection? No symptoms (possible cause of increased protein or is it the increase in my diet?)
mildly decreased GFR (kidney function) due to mild infection?
Went on SBD b/c besides needing to lose wt. had terrible carb cravings & ate way too much. That's a whole lot better now. I eat low fat dairy & proteins w/ olive oil, grilled or sauteed. May go mildly to moderately over board on nuts, peanut butter & cool whip (w/ sf jello) & have ff half n half in AM coffee. I also drink 1-2 glasses (8-12 oz) unsweetened soy milk.
Any thoughts? |

You didn't mention vegetables at all-- you should be eating lots of veggies, plus 2-3 fruit servings and 2-3 starch/grain servings daily. Studies have shown that along with choosing good fats over bad, eating adequate/ample plant-based foods is crucial for cholesterol levels.
That said, your LDL still isn't horribly high.
Do you eat oatmeal? That would be good to add if you don't. |

A1C should be below 7.0. Over 7.0 is diabetic range. Between 6.0 and 6.9 is pre-diabetic range.
You're in an OK range with 5.9, but should start to watch it. SB is a good choice to start to monitor it.
Fasting glucose should be under 100. 105 is a little high, but not too much. |
