so..........
I'm new to this. In Phase 1, do you need to eat the meals in the exact order they come in the book? Or can you repeat the same day, or maybe replace a day's breakfast with a previous day's breakfast that you liked better?
For instance, instead of today's asparagus omelette, may I replace that with the veggie quiche cup to go?
I didn't know if the days were structured so that the right amounts of calories / veggies / etc. for the day have been calculated for the meal that's set out, and if you cook a different SB Phase 1 meal for that meal then you're toast.
Thanks! |

you do not have to follow the menus in the book at all.
in fact most folks don't.

I've sort of tossed around the question of why the meals are in the book at all. I can think of a few reasons: to demonstrate in a more concrete way what a reasonable and healthy day's eating looks like, to give some suggestions of how to put together a menu over time (making it clear you can and should eat a variety of foods), and to make it obvious that the food actually should taste good and be filling. Sort of like, "This is what it looks like when you're on P1 or P2." I'm sure there are also some people who really want a lot of guidance and enjoy following them. |

The menus are guidelines, so you can make a "balance" menu.
Also, since Dr. A. practice medicine in South Beach, FL and he likes to eat at some local restaurants there, he comissioned some of the chefs to allowed him to publish their recipes for mutual benefits and as you said to show that a diet does't have to be boring.
Most of the menus are some of Dr. A. favorite dishes! |
