Hi there,
I have recently rediscovered the forum after quite a long absence. I started the SB diet in 2004 and with some tweaking lost 98lbs in 6 months. However, I then started my doctorate in 2005 and ended up putting 56lbs back on in the first year (aargh!)
I yo-yoed back up and down since then, but am currently back at 175 with 7mths of my course still to go. I'm determined not to let things slide again, despite the fact that I've never lost my "comfort eating" tendencies.
I guess what I wanted to say is that although the SB works best when you follow it pretty much to the letter, I think it is a way of eating that can be adapted to fit in with everyday life with all its stresses and strains. Even if that means motivation comes and gos, I don't believe I will ever get back up to 273 again, and that is fine with me!!!
I don't have time to exercise at the gym all that much right now, but when working at my computer all day I try and fit in 10 minutes of walking / stretching every couple of hours (even if I walk and read). And when I'm at work in the hospital, I try to walk between patients on different wards to get the steps up
I'm hoping the forum can help me stay motivated, and give me some great hints and tips, as I'm sure it was one of the main things that kept me going the first time.
Lots of luck and best wishes to everyone who is still on the road like me, and congratulations to all those whose screen names i recognise who have reached their goals. You are an inspiration xxx |
