I'm seeing so many of these diets going around... Some I have been on, some I wouldn't dare try...
As some of you now, I recently converted from the Body Makeover program. Of course, I hated it, but they did teach me one important thing, that I do believe: All body types are different, and that's why some people can lose on a particular diet, while others will not.
That's why there are so many diets out there to begin with! Because people kept trying diets, and saying "This diest doens't work for me. So I'm going to invent one that does". And then they would try to convert others, but some of those others would complain because THEY didn't lose weight.
My big point is, different body types require different diets. I know people who can eat all kinds of junk and big plates of pasta, and never gain an ounce (they don't exorcise either). But others have to focus mroe on lean proteins, fruits and veggies to stay thin.
Another example is--- My mother lost weight on Weight Watchers-- Lightning fast! But I never did... In fact, I gained! The most weight I ever lost, was on the Atkins diet (100 lbs). But like I said before, I had to go off it, because I have problems with low blood sugar, and Atkins made it worse. But still, I know people who are doing very well on it! and I know people who can't seem to lose a pound on it. just like with every other diet I can think of.
So really, I never try to preach to people that MY diet is the best. Because I really think that it depends on your body type.
As for me, South Beach works great! I'm losing weight, I don't have cravings, I'm satisfied, and my blood sugar is ballanced. But I'm perfectly well aware that there may be someone out there for whom South Beach does not work, and that's fine. I totally understand that.
There's so many different (and healthy) options out there, that work for certain people. You just have to try a few, until you find the one that works for you. |

| You are so right! The only diet I've ever really tried is Slimming World, which worked to a point but I put the weight back on and then got stuck. Three weeks doing South Beach, I've lost 2 lb and am at my lowest weight for over a year! But I know people who have got to target doing SW. I guess it's just not for me, and I'm overjoyed to have found SB, which seems to work! |

| "Diets" are about losing weight and there are many, many ways to accomplish that. The trick is to keep the weight off. Forever. No "diet" does that. People need to adjust the way they live until they reach a point where they are healthy and there is a balance between what they ask of their body and how they fuel their body. It takes work and you are never "done." |

| Definitely. That's why I'm glad I found SB as I find it easy to stick to and can definitely see myself eating like this for the rest of my life. :) |

Exactly, "diets" are usually unrealistic and you can't eat like that forever... If you are going to get on an eating plan, you need to find one that has different phases (one to boost your weight loss, one to keep you gradually losing weight over a period of time, and one to maintain your weight for life)--- like this one. And there's a few others that do the same.
But those ones that are purely for quick weight loss, and nothing else-- people go on them, and then go back to eating normal. then they just gain it all back!
But what makes me laugh is, I went to that website www.infomercialscams.com , and there were sooooooo many people there putting down certain eating plans, and saying they don't work, because they "gained all their weight back as soon as they started eating normal again".
And I was like.... Well, of course! lol You can't go back to eating unhealthy food all the time, and expect to stay skinny. You gotta keep eating healthy. But if you don't, and you gain it back--- that's not the eating plan's fault.... That's the fault of the person who doesn't want to continue a healthy lifestyle :P . |

FWIW, we see a lot of that here too! SB by itself is no different than any other dietary program in that regard. One only has to read all the posts of those "coming back" to understand this is a pervasive problem and issue and "beachers" are no more immune to it than anyone else. Reaching your goal weight is merely halftime, not the end of the game! |
