Hi everyone! This is the Fitness Assessment Test thread. If you're part of the Spring Challenge, this is where you'll post your progress.

You'll do this test once any time from now until Monday. And one other time at the end of the challenge. You'll post a "Before" post now, and come back and add your "After" information at the end of the challenge.

For each Test, if you can't do it the regular way, choose an "easier" way.

- if full push-up are out of the question (to hard, or health issues), you
can do knee-push (girly ones), or wall push-up.
- you can do crunches, or other abs test if full set-up aren't possible

etc.

I strongly suggest you write the type of exercice you do. For someone currently not able to do full push-ups, that maybe the improve you'll get during the challenge !

If you have any questions, please ask away!

2) Number of sit ups performed to failure:

3) Wall sit(number of seconds before failure) :

4) Number of inches reached on flexibiliy test :

5) How many minutes it takes to walk or run 1 mile:

I added the wall-sit exercice to the usual fitness assessment. It's great to measure lower core strenght, as well as endurance.

Good luck, everyone!!!

Ok, so I think I should have done the fitness test in the order that the exercises are listed below. I did a 25 minute spinning workout before the 1-mile walk/run, followed by the wall-sit, pushups, situps and flexibility test. At the end of the challenge, I'll just do the exact same routine. The point is just to see progress anyway. I realized that I should have done things in the order listed below when I tried to do the wall-sit and my legs were all jiggly from the spinning and walking/jogging workout!

Also - I'm not sure if the treadmill I was on at the gym measures distance in km or miles. I'm assuming km, since I'm in Canada, so I recorded the time it took me to walk/jog 1.61 km.

I don't actually ever run or jog, but I thought I'd try it for this challenge. I was proud of myself for jogging for close to 10 minutes (broken up into segments of anywhere from 1-4 minutes) for the challenge - even though it was obviously a damned slow jog!

Question: Ok, I'm really NOT that unfit. I spin quite a lot and workout fairly often in general. This morning when I did that fitness test, I wasn't sure what units were used on the treadmill at the gym. Because I'm in Canada, I tend to assume that machine readouts are in kilometers. But it really doesn't make sense to me that it would take me over 20 minutes to walk/jog a mile! Does anyone know? If the machine readout was in miles, it took me 13:29 to walk/jog the distance. If in kilometers, then I guess it was 21:30 -which sucks!

****Edited Later****

Ok, talked to a friend that goes to the gym - turns out, the distance readout is in miles. YAY!! So, gonna change my numbers now.

lol... it actually depends of the set-up of the threadmill... some allow you to choose the units you want.
