Okay, so today I was going to go trek to the gym in the cold..yuck. And when I woke up, I turned over and looked at the X-box under the TV, as well as the game "DDR." I remembered..."hey, DDR has a workout mode, maybe I'll try that instead of going to the gym today."

So I tried it just now. It's great! I like that I'm getting better at a game and getting exercise. I definitely work up a sweat, and I'm thinking, which keeps me pushing myself harder. The boredom of riding a bike makes me want to stop after my minimum goal...but DDR makes me want to keep pushing myself!

Does anyone else use DDR or something like it for exercise? Anyone else have any thoughts on how good it is as a way to workout? Maybe I'm cheating myself on what could be a better workout.

I've not ever played DDR thought I'll eventually get it for my Wii. I'm currently ADDICTED to Wii Fit, which my bf got for me from Japan. It's the greatest. thing. EVER! I love that feeling that I'm doing some exercise while playing games.

I have done DDR for exercise, using the workout mode. The only problem I had was really sore calves from dancing mostly on the balls of my feet and not wearing shoes. But I definitely got my heart rate up and got a good workout. I haven't done it for a while, thanks for the reminder, it's a fun way to exercise with my kids too!

Ive tried using the Wii for a workout but that thing wears me out!! I guess you do get a lot of movement which is good.

I have DDR, but haven't done it in awhile. I guess it is time to pull it out again. I also bought an exercise band, maybe it could be used to exercise my arms, too.

my friend who got me into SBD decided to give a go with this method. An issue with difficulty (more rythmically challenged then a game issue) kinda hampens how much she ends up doing it though.

For those of us coming up in the electronic stage, where space, money and time are a premium, using video games like this are a definate small step into the right direction.

Another game that has possibilities is RockBand; drumming. You use both your arms and 1 leg plus its kinda cardio (breathing hard counts in my book) and its all in 3 to 8+ minute bursts. Depending on your difficulty level, you can be sweating and achy after just 1 long song. Plus, you get to hear some good music, AND you are getting in some gaming as well. The time passes much faster when you dont even realise you are getting some kind of movement in.

This is the perfect baby step for those of us who are sediment due to computers all day and need to really ramp up to even working out. Plus, its a lot cheaper then a home treadmill, takes up less room and is fun, which I find makes me want to do it many times throughout the day.

Its certainly not a replacement for "real" exercise but i figure every little bit will help in the long run.

I have one friend who lost 40 pounds playing it (plus dieting). I also met a guy who lost about 50 doing it. I don't play it myself (second floor apartment with thin walls- too much stomping!) but it's fantastic exercise!

Dance revolution is one of the practical exercise method in terms of cost or money expenditure and it is also fun to do because you enjoy your exercising activity. As we all know dancing (aside sports) is also help to to reduced or to lose weight as it also burned all the calories (Fats) in our body. This is a good daily routine of exercise...

I've heard it's a great workout.
I personally suck at DDR, and get discouraged very easily.
But my younder cousin played everyday during her summer break a couple years ago, and lost like 20 lbs. She wasn't even doing it to lose weight, it was just for fun.

Maybe I'll pick it up and try again....maybe
