If you are new to exercise - just WALK, WALK, WALK! I can't tell you how many times I failed because I started with a new exercise routine. Soreness, fatigue or exhaustion always interrupted my enthusiasm. Until, my husband suggested that I just walk away the stiffness, loosening mussels and start slow and build up endurance. WoW! this starting things rolling! You have to stretch even before walking, but before you know it your walking farther and farther and uphill is uplifting!
Using SBD and walking - I lost 27lbs in 3 months!

and if you live in Sedona with all those gorgeous hiking trails, you are in one of the most beautiful places on this earth to walk in my opinion! :D

Since I've been concentrating on the incline on my treadmill, my butt has really firmed up! I would've done it a long time ago if I had known.

I have always enjoyed walking as my exercise but it's tough to do during cold winter months. I finally broke down and bought an indoor walking DVD (one of the Leslie Sansone products) which came with one of those stretchy bands. The DVD has one 30-min workout with resistance training which is GREAT, and one 20-min bonus workout which is a mile aerobic walk with seniors, so it's low impact and good for someone who's just starting out.

I'm about ready to move on to the next level, though. Anyone have any walking DVDs they can recommend?

I have found what the OP said to be true, many times I intended to start an exercise routine yet failed partly because it seemed daunting (always wanted to run a few miles from the start) and partly because I would physically crash. I've learned to start easy, a one hour walk can help a lot when you haven't been doing any exercise, I might progress to running, or just faster walking, but it will be gradual, as my body needs it.

@meemo I use the Leslie Sansone WATP 4 mile super challenge, love it!
