Vegetarian Board?

Hi!

Yesterday you folks helped me find the vegetarian thread...however, it is pretty old and nobody seems to be around. I think it's because it is difficult to locate.

Would you consider adding a board for vegetarians? There is even a vegetarian option when you sign up online so it must be somewhat popular.

Mostly, I am hoping to share menus and recipes...not interested in all the animal rights and definitions etc etc that seemed to be the focus of the old messages.

Here's the kicker, I am not even vegetarian! :) I just don't eat much meat and would love bean and tofu based dishes, and talk with other folks about what they are eating.

If you are unable to do this, would it be okay for me to run a weekly veggie thread on one of the existing boards?

Thanks so much for all the work you've done on this site...it is much appreciated and valuable!!

The mods who are here regularly (me and pookiebear basically) have no ability to add or change the forums or the appearance of the forum. You would have to contact the sys admin for that level of change. (link at the bottom of each page) She hasn't made a major change to the forums in quite a while. (since we got the google adds on the right actually) But you are welcome to contact her with the request if you like.

The reason we have a P3 thread in that same forum I stickied the vegetarian thread is because there is no P3 forum either and some were asking for it. (But it doesn't get much traffic either) I realized that it is somewhat an older thread but thought perhaps making a sticky and having new activity would resurrect it a bit and maybe there was info of value to new folks coming into the forum in the older posts that they would not find otherwise.

And anyone is welcome to create a thread for their own purposes! Look at all the "Group" threads in the P2 forum! So if you want to create a weekly vegetarian thread I think that's great.

Thanks for the reply, it makes sense. I hadn't noticed that a Phase 3 board was missing!
I will try to get a thread going...
Thanks again

Let me know either here or in a PM if you want me to make it a sticky thread in the same forum. (Results/experiences, succeses, etc.) I can "unsticky" the other one. I just picked it because it had had a lot of traffic at one point. I agree with your assessment of it in the thread you started though. It may not be the best forum, but all the other ones already have a lot of stickies and announcements and I'd rather sticky it in a forum with fewer things at the top. Too many and you have to start scrolling down to get to any of the daily posts. Or we'll just leave it where it is and you can bump it up every once in awhile if you want to give it more visibility again.

Howdy
I guess I am not too sure what sticky-ing a thread does. Does it me moving it to another board so it is on two boards? If so, the recipe/food board might also be appropriate.
We'll see if there is any interest. If it's fun, I can begin again each week.
I smiled to see you agreed with my assessment of the older forum...kind of an elitist group.
Thanks again

Oh right, I forgot that you were going to do it weekly. Probably best to just leave it as is. "Sticking" it and moving it are two different things. Making it a sticky moves it to the top of any particular forum and it stays at the top regardless of activity levels. (regular, unstickied threads eventually fall further and further down the list of topics unless responded to b someone.) I wouldn't sticky it in that forum because there are already too many there now. I'd move it to another forum and sticky it there. Not sure how the top of the Recipe forum looks as far as # of existing sticky threads/announcements. I think just leaving it where it is and letting you put up a new one each week probably makes the most sense for now. Good luck!
