Hey All,
I'm about to move onto P2 but my problem is this: I don't want to. I've been successful in P1 but I feel like the weight loss will just stop in P2. I know that moving onto P2 can be something that most SBDers look forward to b/c there's more of a menu to choose from but I don't mind continuing to eat the way I am now. Any words of wisdom?? Thanks.

By staying in Phase I too long you are depriving your body of certain nutrients now allowed in Phase II. In order for the diet to work you really should move onto Phase II. Dr. A recommends in order for the diet to work efficiently we should not stay in Phase I no more than 4 weeks at a time. According tothe good doc, it's best to lose 1-3 per week than 8-13 per week.

I can definitely understand how you feel. I'm in Phase 1, the pounds are coming off, and I don't want to risk that!!
But I know Phase 1 eating is not a long term thing. You need the phase 2 nutrients, like the above poster said. And this is a marathon, not a sprint!
Start adding fruits and good carbs slowly, see how your body and weight reacts.

The previous posts make good points. Another thought: to lose weight and keep it off, you will need to change your way of eating. You can stay on P2 for as long as it takes you to lose the weight and relearn eating habits. You just can't (and shouldn't) stay on P1 that long.

Hi,
Phase 2 was were I lost my weight and I enjoy eating again. Don't knock it til you try it. I went from a size 13 to a 7 and it happened in Phase 2 - Phase 1 was slow and disappointing for me. I have only been in Phase 2 for 8 weeks, so I am loving it.

ME too! ME too! ME too!

Day 14 of P! and my clothes are bagging! I do not want to graduate yet! But I know I need fiber sooooo bad... my poor backed up body!!

So maybe P1 one more week adding some bran-a-crisp crackers to a meal or two!

Phase 1 was slow for weight loss to. When I went to phase 2 I lost weight more easy. Don't be afraid of it. It is healthy to lose weight slowly not all at once. The quick weight loss in the beginning is only a perk but the real diet is in phase 2. Plus after awhile your body's metabolism will slow down and go into starvation mode making it harder down the road to lose weight.

I was afraid at first as well, and in fact I stayed in phase 1 an extra week. I realized physically why the diet instructs you to move to phase 2. Although I ate the same foods throughout phase 1, by the middle of the 3rd week, I was so weak and tired I could barely function. You have to move on. A word of caution though, my body reacted very bad to adding in fiber. I was so 'backed up' from all the cheese in phase 1, that when I added just a little fiber, I got very serious upset stomach problems. They did work out by slowing down the fiber and taking zantac and gas medication. Just go slow.

I felt the same way about leaving phase 1. So, I decided to go on what I call P1 1/2. First night of P1 1/2 I had some red wine. A few days later I added some black beans which are technically P1 but I had not had any on P1. Then one morning I had a whole wheat tortilla with breakfast. The next night I used some whole wheat bread crumbs for the oven fried chicken recipe. So, I've only had 1 P2 item per day, and not every day, rather than adding a grain and fruit each day. I have continued to lose. Good luck.
