Ok, so I'm a little depressed. I finally decided to start exercising with the help of my husband. I had started last monday walking 25 minutes per day. I felt I was doing really well we went 3 days in a row. Well everyday I was having pain starting at my ankle and going up my lower leg. Each day it was worse.

On Thursday of last week I had a doctors appointment to talk about diet, exercise and a few other things. I also brought up about my leg and I was sent for xrays.

I was told to stay off it, stop walking. Yesterday (Sunday), believe it or not my doctor called. He said I have a small fracture in my ankle and it was "suspecious". I have no idea how I fractured it and yes I did have pain in the same place before I really started walking with my husband but only when I walked across campus (I work for a university). I do not think that I did this when I just started exercising but I honestly have no idea how I could have done this.

My doctor told me to wear a brace and stay off my foot and that he was referring me to another doctor.

My husband and I are starting SBD on 10/22 and honestly I'm sorta depressed now that I cant go walking. It was nice and other than the pain I enjoyed myself. Can anyone give me some ideas of something else that I can do to try to stay active.

Swimming is not an option and keep in mind im out of shape currently about 318 lbs.

I just wanted to give you some encouragement.

There is a comedian in Australia, who broke her leg in the first week of her "new lifestyle" of eating healthy etc. She still managed to lose weight in the 6 weeks she couldn't exercise on her feet.

I will dig out the book she wrote tonight to see what exercises she did.

But don't let this make you give in. Even if you can't do much exercise you can begin to control your eating, then move on to the exercise when you can.

Pixel,
You and I are in similar straits. I have a bad knee [no cartilige nor kneecap in l knee] and back issues. indoor bike is feasable but not my favorite - like you, I'd love to walk but not a good idea.

Wanna pair up and see what we can get going?
