I just wanted to send a thank you out to everyone who contributes to this board especially "the veterans."

I started the SBD during the second week of January 2007 at 254 lbs(December 2006 was my highest weight of 263). I read the book and luckily I found this place. I jumped immediately into Phase 1 and have been in Phase 2 since the 15th day of SBD. I've had bumps in the road and cheats and treats many times during this journey but I always hop back into the SBD lifestyle with the next meal/snack.

Today I tipped the scales at a svelte, for me, 199 lbs, one pound less than my initial goal weight of 200 lbs. At 5'11, I am still overweight but my lifestlye and diet are healthier. My initial goal was not aggressive enough and my doctor thinks 185 is probably a good weight for me while I am thinking 190 is right and my wife says STOP NOW!!

Anyway...I should probably write a journal-like longer post about my SBD experience but for now.....

THANKS TO ALL THE CONTRIBUTORS TO THIS BOARD...THERE IS NO WAY I WOULD HAVE LOST 55 LBS. WITHOUT YOU!!!!

Veterans..your wisdom, experience, patience, and guidance is invaluable. Keep doing what you are doing!!

Newbies...keep asking questions. Everyone can learn from the answers.

Great job! I'm about the same height as you and set my first goal only slightly more aggressively than you at 195. A year or so later from that milestone, I ended up a bit under 180. Not suggesting that should be your goal at all, just that our bodies tend to find the level that they should be over time. I had goals of 195, 190, 185 and 180 and eventually exceeded them all. (OK, that last one just barely.) In the end, they are just numbers on a scale. Keep doing what you need to do! Congrats on your progess. :)

Thanks RedRox...You are one of the verterans for whom my post was intended. There are not too many of us guys around so I focus on your posts and oldpjams'.

Anyway, my recollection is for our height 177 lbs is the "right" high-end number to be considered "normal" according to BMI. Of course BMI is not the most accurate measure but it is another source of data.

I "think" my plan is to continue doing what I am doing and see where it takes me. Frankly, I am afraid of where I will end up since I can't remember the last time I was at less than 200 lbs (20 years ago maybe). There are a few things that may be unsustainable for me that I do today, 1) bring my breakfast, lunch, and snacks every day to work and 2) exercise 6 days a week. I may try to eat breakfast and lunch away from home and exercise 3 days a week (excluding golf and biking) just to see what happens to my weight. The point is that I may need to alter my diet a little since I am eating approximately the same amount now as I did when I started SBD but weigh a lot less. Then again my food tastes great :D and I kind of like working out 6 days a week  so maybe I'll keep doing this.

As you can tell..I am completely confused so the easiest thing to do is nothing since my doc and I both think I can lose more than a few more pounds.

I should get my bloodwork results this week. We'll see if this WOE has made my numbers better, worse or the same. I have eaten an ungodly number of eggs the last 10 months. With a pre-SBD total cholesterol of 179 with 50 in HDL I am pretty afraid of what my new diet has done to my bloodwork. If my bloodwork looks less than desirable then the new challenge could be to change what I eat to improve my numbers while continuing to lose.

And it certainly depends on the build -- I'm 5'10, and would like to be 165 (160 at best).

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME Job!!!

I'm a girl that's just an inch taller than you. According to most BMI's my weighest 'normal' weight should be 182 (which is why that's my goal weight), but I, like you, don't know if my body will want to go to that low (for me) of a weight or not. I'm just gonna keep trying (I still have a long ways to go before I even get close) and see what my body says once I get closer!

Keep up the EXCELLENT work!!

Congratulations!

Sometimes, I look at posts like this and think "Almost a whole year? I can't do this that long."

But then again, I got this way over the last twenty years. What's one more year compared to the rest of my life? I guess compared to the twenty years it took me to get fat, ten months is pretty mild.
