Greetings!

I started the South Beach Diet May 11th and very proud to announce that I have lost 4 pounds an my fourth day. 16 more pounds to go before I reach my mid-weight loss goal. I want to stay on phase one of this day for four weeks! I have heard how the weight loss is gradual when you enter phase two. I am a meat lover and broccoli lover so I believe I can do without the bad carbs. I have also purchased a treadmill and will start working out. I have felt a little drowsy, but coffee and splenda works graciously. I would love to chat with anyone on phase one or anyone who intends on staying in phase one beyond 14 days for encouragement and support!

I to just started, day before yesterday. So far 2 lbs. I was put on SBD by my endocrinologist. He really thinks this diet is great for not only weight loss but for the medical benefits. I have gained 60lbs in the last year after a thyroidectomy. I hope to get all that off, plus the 20lbs I had gained over the prevoius 6 years. I turn 40 in October & would love to be under 180 by then. That's my 1st goal, but I'll take it day by day. Good luck to you!!

Unlike you, I don't like meat very much, but so far, I am doing well cutting the carbs down. This week I am conditioning myself for next week when I actually start SBD. I have lost 3.5 lbs this week. I do like vegetables a lot, so I need to make sure I eat the right ones. I like sweets, cereals & things high in carbs, so this will sure be a change for me!!!

Good luck to you, you shound like u r doing great!!! I work out every morniung with Gilad - Bodies in motion, it helps keep me active! :D

I am thinking of staying on PH1 to get the first 20 pounds off. I am on day 5 of PH1 and I love it so far. I am down 4 pounds as of this morning. I am getting married 10/16 and would like to lose 35 pounds for the big day so I am going to stay on P1 to get the first 20 off and then I will see from there. If I feel the need for carbs I will start to P2 but slowly.

Keep in touch with your progress. :D

I started on Monday, the 10th - so just ending day 5 and so far, so good. Have decided that I'd avoid the scale (at least until the end of phase 1) and gauge my success by how my clothes are fitting. That scale is just too demoralizing on a bad day. Anyway, I'm sitting here in my jeans that I couldn't really fit into 2 weeks ago, so I'm feeling pretty good about this.

Looking to lose 35 lbs. 6 couples are vacationing in Costa Rica in Oct so that's my timeline to lose, although it would be even better to be rid of it this summer - oh well, Rome wasn't built in a day.

I'm not even craving the bread and pasta that I couldn't previously imagine giving up (amazing!) and have been eating plenty, following the rules. My main agony is that I hate having to think so much about it (grocery lists, recipes, menus). I know I'm the weight I am because I love the convenience of grabbing something convenient after work, eating on the run at lunch, or going out for dinner. This has definately reined me in. I find myself pouring over cookbooks in the morning, at the grocery store at lunch shopping for what I'll make for dinner, then cooking after work and trying to convince hubby to do the dishes. So much thought and work - argh!! The next two weeks are fairly quiet in my life, but I dread what will happen when summer social events seem to run continuously or when I'm pressed for time. Any hints to help me get organized?

Hi I just retired after owning family rest for 30 years. I don't like to cook anymore-I'm sick of it after 7 days a week from 6 A:M: to 7:00 P:M: 363 days a year. (closed Christmas and Thanksgiving)
I love my crock pot. I lay out the meat at night and if fresh veg I clean and chop them then. In the morning, before you go to work, throw in the meat, ground round, chicken breast, chicken etc. If gr. beef I break it up. I then add veg of your choice. I usually add green beans, diced tomato can or mushrooms-whatever seems to go with your meat. put on med and let go all day. I make enough for 2 days. Then you can have leftovers with a salad on day 3. Day 2 make something copmpletely different, like prk ten and kraut. There- you're all set for 3 days. As you do this a few times you'll get a little more creative. One day this week I use 1 lb gr. sirloin- added 1 lb frozen fr cut beans, 1 lb diced tomatoes, 4 oz can of mushrooms, 2 celery stalks and let it all go on med about 6-8 hours. Before serving I added a little lf cot cheese I put in blender to break up the curds first. It was delicious. Wiath chicken breast I add 1 lb bag of frozen caul or broc a lot of times. Add a salad and you're all set. Hope this helps! :)

I must say I'm a little discouraged as this is day 7-phase 1 . No cheats and 1 lb gain. I think this is maybe water gain as I've been in a low fat low carb low calorie plan for past 5 weeks and I think my body is reacting to the 60-70 carbs. I was only eating about 5-10 before. I was also only eating between 800-1200 cal a day and know I'm eating more now. Plan to stay on phase 1 till I lose some! Then slowly switch to phase 2
