| I'm not sure if this should be here or in the phase 2 forum. I have read through all the info in stickies on the phase 2 forum. Are there any diabetics out there who could give me some info on what things they added back, how much, and how often in phase 2 that were successfull for them in still being able to control their blood sugar. My blood sugars have really normalized during phase 1 and am unsure about adding in some of these grains and fruit as these things would send me into a tail spin before. I know I have to add them back, but how much. Any diabetics out there with advice would be helpful. By the way, I am type 2, on metformin, and do exercise daily. Thanks for any help! |

I am also diabetic and take metformin and also paxil. Phase 2 should not be a problem for you as long as you continue to excercise and add whole grains.
This is my second go around with the beach. I started a "Low Glycemic" eating regime a few years ago when I weighed 239. Little did I know that what I was eating was really similar to South Beach. I got down to 180 in about a years time. I gained back some weight and was up to 200 lbs 2 years ago when I bought the book. I lost weight and go down to 165 that time. Unfortunately, I gained some back and am now around 180. However, if I hadn't adopted the South Beach principles as a lifestyle, I could have ballooned back to the 239!
This is definitely a slow process but worth it! My sugars when I follow phase 2 are very very good! We diabetics actually have an advantage in that we can actually see the sugars rise and fall according the foods we eat.
I would suggest testing more frequently so you can tell how your body reacts to different grains that you are adding. Also, having a protein with your grain or carbs will help slow the reaction.
Good luck! |
