You might have an underlying condition that causes it. I get it (from peripheral neuropathy due to celiac disease) and my mom gets it (from MS). It sure can be frustrating, and good luck with the doctor.

My husband gets it whenever he is over stressed (from his job) or not getting enough sleep.
His Dr. gave him some med for when he gets it.

What do you mean vertigo ? Well I know what it is ....but how long have you had it ?

I have it quite often and it is due to my chronic sinus infections. Your sinuses can be blocked and not even know it....the vertigo is what usually tips me off. Then I know I have to do some sinus rinses...The DR told me to take a antihistamine every day but I don't.

I have had vertigo off and on since I was pregnant with my youngest - 22 years ago!!! Usually it is fairly mild and gradually fades away but last spring it came back with a vengeance. I had to go to my doctor for something else. My doc was not available so I saw a locum. I mentioned that the vertigo was pretty bad and the locum suggested the Epley maneuver where she laid me down, flat on my back but with my head off the end of the exam table and bent about 60 degrees to the right. I held that position for 30 seconds then she rolled me over to my left side, still with my head off the table and at 60 degrees. I held that position fo 2 minutes and my vertigo was gone!!! It came back again this fall so I tried the maneuver at home myself and it worked. What a relief! All those years and my family doc had never mentioned a potential cure.

Can also be caused by an infection in the inner ear (labyrinthitis).

- that can last from a few days to few months... so better check that out !

Basically, our sense of stability comes from a part of the ear (the labyrinth). A liquid is within it, and the way it moves helps the body find is stability. If you have an inflamation of that part, the liquid can't move properly and everything starts spinning around...

For a lot of people, it does get better by itself. But not always, better check it to be on the safe side !
