Ok, sorry to sound stupid  but I've been browsing these forums for a few weeks now and I still can not figure out what "DH" means or what it means or does when someone posts "bump." :?

Will someone explain!

Hey Healthy - no problem! It took me awhile to figure out what everything was, and there are still some I scratch my head at.

DH = Dear/Darling Hubby (unless he just left the toilet seat up, at which point it is Damn Hubby!). Same thing for DD = Dear Daughter, DS = Dear Son, etc.

"bump" just means that someone wants to bring that thread back up to the top of the page. Some questions get asked all the time, so it's easier to "bump" an old thread up to bring it to the newbies attention.

Hope this helps!

Well thank you both! So typing "bump" doesn't actually move anything--rather it brings attention to it?

Thanks again!!!

well when you "bump" something it does move it because you posted to it.

Other than sticky threads which are "stickied" at the top and hence the name, all threads will continue to fall down the page and eventually off the front page as new topics are created and existing ones are responded to over time. So you could have a thread on page 14 of any forum and someone could post a "bump" reply and it would move to the top page of that forum directly under the stickies as the newest thread to either be created or replied to. So yeah, they do "move" within that forum. Only mods can move threads across forums, which we do quite regularly when we see things we believe are "misplaced" in terms of thread info and forum topic headings.

Yeah, I needed more of a detailed explanation like you gave--I'm a little slow sometimes!!!

Well, what would you expect from an Indians fan? ;)

I'm just kidding you - but I'm a big Yankees fan and am very excited for this series! Good luck to you guys - you'll need it :D

And Red, you're a Rockies fan, I assume? I'm a displaced NYer living in Philadelphia right now - I have to pretend to care about the Phillies at least a bit so that they don't lynch me. Only another 2 1/2 hours to game time for you!

Hahaha--the Yankees are the one's who will need the luck!

Hopefully you're not a Steeler's fan too...

Actually, I don't care about football at all - baseball is time consuming enough! I need the off-season to get anything done!

Again, I have to pretend to care about the Eagles (Philadelphia football fans scare me a bit!), but I was secretly happy when the Giants beat them last week. I grew up about 10 minutes away from where the Jets practiced, so I guess they would be my favorite - when in doubt, Go NY!

I don't like the Steelers at all because a girl I went to college with was a huge Steelers fan and had a really loud, annoying voice. When it's quiet, I can still hear her shreeking - "YEAH! Da' BURGH!" <shrudder> There it is again!

Hahaha the girl from college sounds like a real treat--hilarious!!!!

Rox AND Sox actually. I grew up in Western Mass. but have lived in Colorado for 25 years now. Not sure who I'll root for if they ever meet in the WS. Figure it's a win-win at that point.
