Hi! Anyone care to share any of the supplements they currently take (and why?)

I try my best to stay away from OTC and Rx meds, but will take natural supplements. My reason is because I see too many friends going on Rx meds for various reasons, and they never get off the meds. In fact, the original meds cause such side effects that they just have to add another med, and another to thwart the problems, etc. It snowballs.

Me? I take a mutlvitamin (GNC's Women's Ultra-Mega whatever with Iron), Kelp tablets (a natural form of iodine to help with thyroid), and a GNC multi-supplement called Memorall (it's mostly fish oil, CoQ10, and a few other things - I forget  ).

I'm interested in taking something specifically for long-term treatment/improvement of vision. I have both macular degeneration and glycoma in the family (both severe). The Drs. told my grandmother she could have been helped by taking some of the "optic" supplements, but you have to take them for years as prevention before the diseases actually set in. I'm 38 now, so I'd like to get started...

Anyone care to share?

Oh, Yes, I also take calcium, about 1,500 mg/day, usually before bed. I know you're suppose to take calcium throughout the day in order to have a level absorbtion rate, but I take calcium in order to knock me out. I suffer from terrible insomnia, and if I take my calcium pills before bed, I'm dead to the world in about 15 minutes. I get enough calcium throughout the day to make up for it.

There's a doctor in Southern Michigan - a REAL medical doctor who also is an herbalist and 100% homopathic. My friend recently started under his care, and I think I'm going to start as well. She said they rely heavily on blood tests, hair folicle tests, salvia tests, etc and process some things in house, etc. Since he's an actual licensed medical doctor, he fully accepts insurances, etc.

I just don't trust most Western Medical Doctors. On an old Chris Rock comedy tape, he did a bit about how "modern medicine" is never going to actually CURE diseases anymore, just treat the symptoms because "there's no cash in CURING it. Everybody knows drug dealers make their money on the COME BACK."

Sad, but true. When my sister was in the hospital dying of leukemia, she suffered so much from the treatments, it was unbelievable what they put here through, etc. The treatments caused her more pain and suffering than the disease. In the end, only God could heal her, and He did.
