I hate em.....the harsh lighting makes me look so bad and shows up all of my flaws and more

You would think they would use better lighting so that you look good and buy the clothes?

I live in Denmark, and the shop assistants have a bad habit of coming into the changing room to ask if all is ok.........i really hate this, i like my privacy when i am getting undressed in harsh lighting....i don't want people coming in and getting a shock

Is it just me or am i english prude?

I know what you mean about bad lighting. Every time I go shopping I leave wanting to cry. I feel so much better looking at myself in my mirror at home than in a changing room.
As for shop assistants comming into changing room I would be bothered by that too. I don't want to be standing around half dressed in front of a total stranger. That never happens in American clothing stores as far as I know, except bridal stores. When I was looking for wedding dresses I found it very akward when store employes would not only walk into my changing room but help me get in and out of dresses.

They just walk in on you? That is so odd!

I guess as I remember that happened to me when trying on wedding gowns but I don't remember caring... not sure why...!

Actually I've always heard that mirrors in dressing rooms are the kind that are slimming (ya know how some mirrors can make us look bigger and some make us look thinner... then there are the "honest" ones). I never noticed the lighting thing. I guess I don't care that much these days (who knew!) but I have always found it annoying that the rooms are usually so small that I pretty much am up against the mirror and how am I going to get an idea of how I look in something when I can't stand back!?

When I was shopping in Toronto once, all the stores I tried clothes on in didn't have mirrors inside the rooms - you had to walk out into the store (next to the fitting rooms) and there were mirrors everywhere, including on the other side of the doors. I didn't like that - the whole point is to figure out if I look good or horrible in something - I don't want everyone seeing me. I got the feeling that the idea was for the employees to talk us into buying the clothing we tried on, and if it didn't work - then find another size or style --- sales! It was the most attention I'd ever gotten in a dressing room!

I wont go in those changing rooms with no mirror on the inside!

I really like my privacy whatever weight i am, i dont need an audience while i am doing my poses in front of the mirror.

.....And there is nothing worse than these shop assistants that swarm round you like bees......if i want help i will ask for it!!!!

Thing is when i neeed help they are busy lol!

I am the same way but this made me laugh b/c my cousin likes to go out and "pose" in the mirrors outside the rooms even when there are mirrors inside them. It's so weird/funny b/c to me she looks silly (even her face does poses  ) but it seems that she feels hot and wants everyone in the store to see how these clothes look (whether they fit or not!)!

Oh well.

Besides bridal store, the only place I know shop assistants might come in the changing room are the lingerie store.

Main point is that most women don't know how to figure out if a bra really fit (I think it's about 75% of women who don't wear the right size one... I just hope people don't think I'm one of them :? But since the girls always ask if you want them to help you or not, I don't have any problem with that.

As for changing room without mirror, I always first try a clothe. If I don't think it fits me, I don't get out to look in the mirror, but if I think it may be looking fine, why bother about going out of the cabin ? Most of the other women are much too busy stressing about their own look to really care about mine anyways !
