| I'm on Day 4 of P1 and I seriously have NO appetite and it is really hard to make myself eat. I didn't have dinner at all last night. Is this loss of appetite normal? |

Could be a lack of good carbs -- make sure you're getting in lots of veggies. Also check out the phase 1 FAQ (in main forum or phase 1 forum) - it addresses beans and dairy - which are also good carbs and you should try to get them in phase 1. 1/2 cup beans with lunch and dinner. and up to 2 cups dairy (skim or 1% milk and nonfat plain yogurt count as dairy.. not cheese).
In phase 2 this will really start to go away with the addition of more good carbs! |

I am on day 2 of Phase 1 of the SBD. I, too, seem to not have much of an appetite. I have seriously gone through sugar withdrawals, as I use to consume a lot of sugar each day. I am wondering if my symptoms are unique, or if others have experienced the same.
I am very lethargic, dizzy at times, my body shakes in the mornings and I feel a bit queezy throughout the day. I realize this is only day 2, but will the symptoms go away soon? I have already lost 1.5 lbs which is great....but, if I don't have the energy to take care of my family, it doesn't seem to be worth it.
So, no, you are not the only one without an appetite. It is hard to make myself eat when I'm not hungry!

See previous comment from nygirl22 about not eating enough carbohydrates. Drink your milk or eat yogurt (approved kinds in P1 foods list), eat legumes at least once a day, eat lots of vegetables and make sure you have some like tomatoes and onions that are naturally higher in sugars than just the green ones. you can easily consume 80 gms of total carbs in P1 on a daily basis. If you do, a lot of these issues tend to be mitigated, if not eliminated. Your body will also pretty much adjust to after 5-6 days usually and appetite tends to return in P2 with the addition of some whole grains or fruits.
It is fairly common here, but mostly because it is common for people to think they are trying to eliminate all carb sources in P1 and that is simply not the case, nor was the program designed to even accomplish that. |

Thanks for the advice. I definitely will not give up, as I've been exercising for years and still have not lost weight. I know that I need to eat healthier in order to lose what I want. I just don't care for vegetables, but I have to force myself to eat them. I actually don't mind V8, so that is easy for me to do.
Thanks again! |

A little V8 daily is okay, but you should not try to get all your veggies from it. A big part of this is changing your tastes. As that happens, experiment with new foods and I bet you'll see a difference.
Just learning how to cook veggies better is key. Usually people who don't like veggies just haven't eaten properly cooked ones (count me as a former member of that group). |

| I have been doing SB starting on my 6th week, and I have lost alot of my appetite!!! Maybe that's a good thing, I just find myself not really hungry for anything. I am getting in all of my good carbs and veg. and protein I'm just not as hungery, some days I just eat because I know I need to not because I have to! Maybe my body is just not needing the calories that it used too. Anyhow I'm not going to complain, I used to be hungry all the time now I'm not nothing to complain about here! |
