I have to echo, Smurl. Wow - way to go Nims. It looks like last week was a great one for you!
KJ, good luck with the move. Moving is never easy.
Smurl, I understand about not wanting to work out with your students, or pack mule your clothes all over town. But, I love having a gym at my work. Granted, I rarely see anyone I know from work, but the convenience of getting my work-out in while I am basically "at work" sure is nice. You'll find what the right thing for you to do is. Congrats on the weight loss!
PP - good luck with the sick kitty. That can be nerve-racking.
I am having a hard time getting in to post already this week. My boss is a bit of a maniac, and she is in rare form this week. The past two days have been 12-hour work days. But, I rode my bike in today, so I have to leave early enough to ride home. Most of the time having come in on the bike really helps me control my time better with the crazy boss. But, I have had to take it on the subway at 8:30 or 9 at night before. Anyways, thanks for letting me b*tch and moan.
Happy exercising this week! |

Rose--Sorry to hear about your long days at work. Your boss sounds like a lot of fun. :? That really makes it hard to stay the course.
I think I am going to check out the gym tomorrow after my last class. I am just going to go in and have a look around. Plus, I figure at $100 for an entire year that I could use it a dozen times and still get my money's worth. They have a pool, weights, cardio, etc.
Oh, and, I just got back from working out. I really, really, really didn't want to go. I kind of felt worn out and just not in the mood, but about halfway through the routine I felt great! I am so glad that I went. I plan to get at least a stretching session in this afternoon. |

Hi guys just checking in, fitting in exercise this week.
I did two cardios each day then today had a jam
packed exercise day. Two cardios (walks),
1 stretch (had insomna) and two strengths.
I still cannot do the straight hour and a half
workout, but trying to has made me fit in a
lot of exercise when I have the time.
Two 'light' days then a lot of exercising day.
And my goal to eat SB frozen dinner? What a
thing to do. I ate one and was starving so added
a whole wheat bread slice and still hungry. Hmmm,
seems I was grazing all the time and getting my
tummy used to being full. Today my appetitie
seems to have adjusted and no grazing.
And a loss of five pounds? That is great Smurl!
Hope everyone has a great exercising beachy
day! |

| Val--Way to go!! Oh those South Beach dinner just don't cut it. I don't think they taste very good, and they just don't seem substantial enough. |

Nims - you rock! WTG on the points!
Rose - Having a b*#@h for a boss can be a real drag! She must not have a life.
Val - I find when I eat the SB frozen dinners I have to fix a lot of veggies to go with it. They just don't satisfy!
Feeling puffy and hungry these last few days, I hate it when that happens! I made some popcorn to munch on - hope that'll do it! I'll just have to work out harder and drink lots of water! |

I love it when that happens! I was so happy to leave work yesterday and get some stress out on the bike ride home. It actually helped a lot, and I actually came up with some sympathy for maniac boss. Sympathy is better than rage for my stress levels! :) Thanks for commiserating team.
Val, your day of exercise yesterday sounds great.
And, PP, I love that you are a veggie advocate all the time. I actually thought of you the past couple of days, when making a raw veggie mix at the salad bar. I love fresh veggies, but I still need to make a conscious effort to make sure I get enough of them.
And, guess what?! I got on the scale today, and I have lost 5 pounds in this challenge as well as Smurl. I was so surprised since I'm TOM right now I thought I wouldn't see any decrease. But, somehow I was feeling lean this morning, so I stepped on and saw the great results. I am so close to my mini-goal of 10 pounds now!
This team is great! Thanks for the motivation, support and friendship. I am going to be sad to say good bye to this team forum. :( |

Hi Everyone!
I've been sooo far out of commission, it's ridiculous. I've been repacking to go visit my family this weekend, and have been busy with getting ready to get started with school again. It's nuts! I feel pretty awful about not being able to post here - I'm basically checking my personal email, etc., once per night for 5 minutes and then crashing. I'll be better this weekend though, promise!
My last session with my trainer was great. It was on Monday. Since then, haven't had a chance to workout - I will make up for it this weekend! My eating has been awful this week though. The good thing is that I feel like crap - and that's a GOOD THING because it means that I KNOW I need to stick to SBD! I also haven't been sleeping much, late nights and up early for work everyday...can't wait for a massive sleep in.
I'm feeling pretty bloated and ucky too lately, PP - I'm sure my lack of exercise has everything to do with it. Are you feeling better? Is it TOM?
Rose - Congrats on the 5 pound loss! I love it when I just get that feeling that I should step on the scale and am rewarded with such a huge loss. How's the crazy work schedule coming?
Smurl - I definitely think that the $100 is worth it, and you might end up going more often than you think right now. Convenience is so key to sticking with a workout routine for me that I'm willing to put up with a lot of crap if it means going to a gym that's close to me and that has hours that suit my schedule. And way to go on making it through that workout, even though you didn't want to. I usually feel so much better once I've started. Great attitude!
Val - Sorry that the SBD dinners didn't workout so well for you. I really prefer to cook my own food, but sometimes the convenience of something ready-made is hard to resist. You are amazing with your exercise! I too have trouble with the 90+ minute workouts, but I'm finding that if I fuel properly beforehand and drink lots of water, it's making it easier for me to hit that mark more often. It's a real test of your endurance though. I'm hoping to continue wtih 90+ minute workouts at least once per week in the fall. We'll see how it goes.
KJ - Hope you're enjoying Boston, and I hope the trip with your dad was good overall! I know it would be difficult for me and my dad, so I feel for ya...
Kathi and Nims - Hope you're both having a great week!
Keep it up guys - I'm really going to miss this thread when it's over next week! |

I've been so hungry these past few days its been hard to keep it up. I'm glad I made eating veggies w/ every meal one of my goals though, its helping me keep on track!
Ok, hopefully i'll get the internet at home again soon and put a better post!

TGIF!
TOM had slowed me down for a couple days, but feeling like kicking butt today at Curves! I'll check my heart rate to make sure I'm putting all my effort into it!
Smurl - $100 a year, wow, wish I had a gym like that. Our only gym in town (no pool) is about that a month! Like you said, if you only use it once a month, it's worth it! That feeling you get when you work out is endorphins, they say they kick in after a bit and keep you going. Way to stick with it!
Rose - good for you feeling for your boss. I learned from a co-worker years ago that when our boss was nasty to us, to kill her with kindness - it pissed her off! Of course pissing off your boss is not good! I'm much older and wiser now - and a boss! Fantastic on your weight loss! The bike riding is really paying off! Not to mention those veggies!
Val - you really impress me with your exercising! You must be on a mission to reach a goal! Keep it up! I should get off my butt more at night and walk at least!
Nims - I hope your back feels better - walking is still good, some say as good as running and it's probably better for your back right now. Don't rush getting back into it, you don't want to do more damage!
Cheeks - have a good time visiting with the family this weekend and eat healthy!! I am feeling better - got weighed and measured yesterday and know that it's not totally right - I knew I was bloated and the girl measuring would hold the tape measure at an angle - I corrected her once. I know some of my measurments are less - my bras don't fit anymore and they're new! (Gee - I'm already buying young girls bras!) Guess maybe it was the puffies that threw the tape off!
KJ - how's Boston and dad?
I will miss this group too  The other starter group I keep up with is slowly shrinking and posting is less and less! This has been a really great group and I thank you all for the motivation and friendship! Is everyone doing the September Challenge? |

Hi all, just checking here reading all the great posts
with messages to each of us...I really like this group
too it is a most active one in exercise and posts and
motivation!
I will be in Sept. challenge and hope some of you
will as well.
I actually do like the SB frozen dinners it is just that
280 calories is not enough, so I add the bread and
as someone suggested (great idea) more veggies.
I do not go back for seconds or grazing with a single
entre frozen dinner.
Always lots of good ideas and motivation to be found
with this team.
Hope all have a great weekend, I am off to do a light
strength workout and get ready for a busy weekend.
Happy exercising all! |

hello all!
i am back from boston! the move was a success. i said a final good-bye to my beautiful, empty apartment there after my landlord assured me we'd be getting our security deposit back (phew - i was concerned about him seeing all the damage done because of all those wild parties we threw...). and so! i saw my friends up there and it was beautiful weather and things went quite smoothly indeed. also, our u-haul adventure was pretty interesting - only a minor mishap came of it (um, our mailbox needs to be replaced now ). but so nowwww, i am getting ready for the third phase of *kelly moves 2007* or whatever it's called.. phase I: move from boston to philly and have nice person sublet my room because the lease isn't up for a few months, phase II: move the rest of my things by september 1, phase III: move into new apartment in philly!! which happens on september 15. exciting stuff!
i'm not sure if i'm gonna be able to dedicate myself to the september challenge..it seems a little more demanding than this one, and i'm not sure i'm going to have time for it. but i'd love to try and follow along with everybody...
cheeky, sounds like your schedule has been completely packed! glad to hear the session with your trainer went well. hope you get that sleep-in soon!
RT, congratulations on the 5-pound loss!! that is wonderful.
PP, TOM is about to come to town for me.. i haven't felt too bloated or anything yet, luckily.. i am a little afraid though about what the scale will say tomorrow morning for my final weigh-in. ah, well, it's not all about the numbers, i realize. (but i'm hoping for a good, low one!)
val, you are my exercise inspiration!
i am counting 2 strengths for moving boxes and furniture the past couple days... didn't get much heavy cardio in this week but i did do a lot of walking around.. like i said, my gym membership has ended so i do need to find alternative exercise during the next few weeks (between gyms). i really do need to bust out those old tae bo tapes..

Sorry I haven't posted for a while. I have been so busy that I have only been able to read your posts and not repsond.
It sounds like despite the disruptions in our lives, we have all been doing our best to bust some cheek. I can't wait to find out what my final weight loss is from all this cheek busting. I won't be able to post my weight until Tuesday since I am out of town and away from a scale.
Repsond more later.
Are we doing a Sept. challenge? |
