I am a bit stranded this week at a friend's house. I thought I had my yoga situation covered only to learn that my DVD was scratched. I have no way of getting to a video store or the library (in the boonies, I am). Does anyone know if there are any yoga videos online that I could download and run from my computer? I know my normal routine by heart but a video really helps keep me on pace.

I have been using www.yogatoday.com for the past month or so, and they are pretty good at a basic level. no advanced inversions for instance! :( (although one class in the past week did throw in bakasana/crane/crow!)
If you click on the download center link at the top, they keep the current day's class and the three previous day's classes available. You can watch them streaming which is what I do, but if your connection is not great at your friend's house, each one runs about 440MB for windows movie format for a 1 hour video. (They also have quicktime/iPod format available which is smaller in size) They kind of bounce around between styles and focus a bit, but hopefully one of the four available on any particular day catches your interest. If you like it and want to do it again, be sure to save it then as each class is only around for four days from it's first showing.
You can also click on the Upcoming Yoga link at the top to see what is coming up in the next week, but they aren't available for viewing/downloading until you get to that day.
It might be different than whatever style you are used to, but it's free and only one small commercial at the beginning of each video. Cueing and instruction is solid, IMO. Short on meditation, chanting, and more spiritual sides of regular practice which I guess makes sense for such a potentially wide audience. It's the only one I'm aware of that is free.
And in case you are wondering what happens to the background music as the class ends and you relax into savasana (this raced through my mind as the first time I did it was winding down), you get a few seconds of music and then some nature sounds ending with seagulls squawking, and then it is silent so nothing to interrupt your stillness after that! ;) |

I need a strap! Did the cosmic dancer one and when they got to the final expression of it, I needed a strap to do it and I just struggled through it and should have just modified to my normal natarjasana to get something out of all the prep work to get there. Anyway, live and learn! Did you do the Kundalini one for today? Also forgot to say and I am sure you noticed that there is a "Level" indicator to gauge level of difficulty if you aren't sure at what level it will be. Never seen anything higher than "Intermediate" though! ;)

I did do the Kundalini one! Just fabulous. I really felt great about it. The instruction was terrific. Today was a big exercise day for me. Swam laps, did yoga, and two 30-minute walks with the dog I am sitting for. I might even get one more yoga workout in before the day is out. Feels good to be so active.

save it to your disk or CD if you want to do the same one again sometime! They had one last week on royal pigeon that I wish I had saved to do again sometime as that is one pose I'd like to keep working on. Forgot to do that and now it's gone! :(

If you have iTunes, you can download yogamazing.com's podcasts. They're really great, simple, and generally about 20 minutes. Each podcast focuses on a certain topic like shoulders and back, anxiety, sports, etc.
