Burning "belly fat"

Hi - Sometimes I hear or read about eatting plans, etc., that cause you to lose "belly fat" first.

I've seen it debated whether or not spot training is effective - whether exercise focusing on one particular part of the body can be truly effective.

If spot training does not work, then what about all these claims that their system or supplements specifically burn "belly fat" fast? Is there any difference in burning an inch of fat from one's mid-section than from their thighs or arms?

Thanks

You mean like this one!!

This program targets internal belly fat as a result of insulin resistance or metabolic syndrome. To the extent that is the cause of your belly fat, then it should help get rid of that "first". If you are more of a pear than an apple shape then it isn't as effective in that regard. Other than that it is more of a matter of calories in vs out over time and fat will disappear from wherever it wants to for the most part. You really cannot spot reduce any one particular area in favor of another. Some of the exercise gurus here probably have better info than I would on what kinds of exercise are most effective at "fat burning" than I would.

Most articles I've read pointed out that spot training doesn't make fat from that spot to reduce faster... When we lose fat, we don't control which part goes first (except from the reaction Redroxco explained).

Spot training is effective only in the sense that if your muscle is stronger (for exemple the belly), your belly might seems firmer. But even if someone had extremelly well developped abs, it may not be visible if a fat belly in over it...

Of course, since muscle burns more calories then fat, some will say that training that involves the bigger muscles (like squats for glutes, quadriceps) will help burn more fat. But all and all, the only way to burn our belly fat is to lose weight. We may not burn fat where we would like first, but I will go eventually.

An eating plan like SB is very important to making sure that you aren't creating more belly fat through your food choices. If you are making the right food choices (by following SB), then it is really the calorie deficit that allows fat to be burned off. Your body just can't tap into that if you eat incorrectly. Why it's the belly fat first, I'm not sure. Perhaps it's because it's the most dangerous or because of its proximity to the liver.

Those cortisol supplements don't work, while they are based on an actual health issue. For right now, only getting enough sleep and reducing stress are proven methods of reducing cortisol so that it doesn't create belly fat.
